This book presents a fresh perspective of World War II that I don't think has been covered before. So, this one is definitely special. I also love that the author interweaves different stories together to form the overall tale. Thank you for the thorough review.

I like historical fiction, too, from time to time. And a story about a man discovering that his father served in World War II as a tail gunner in a B-17 bomber sounds interesting. I also like that the author included the father's experiences. Sad to hear that the timeline jumps are confusing.

I understand your point about the repetition in the book, but I am glad that you liked reading it overall. Congrats to the author on the 4/4 rating!

This reminds me of the stories my parents used to tell us growing up about my grandpa's time in the war. I'm so curious to read it now. Throw in a one woman resistance too and you have my undivided attention.

While historical fiction is not a genre that I am interested in, I really appreciate the work that the author put into this book to make it realistic. Great job on your review!

I really enjoyed reading this review, detailed and well written. I am a fan of historical fiction especially the one dealing with WW II. The dual timelines and multiple angles covering the same story I usually find intriguing and it seems that this book offers all the above. I haven't read any historical fiction placed in Belgium and I am sure I would enjoy that part too.

I read the sample pages and was going to pass on this book. Your review has made me reconsider. I enjoy books that teach about the past and those that stir the emotions. Lily sounds like a brave and dedicated lady. I can't imagine going through what she, others like her, and the Allied soldiers went through to escape the Germans. It is important to know and remember the past so we don't repeat it.
