I'm not a fan of camping trips and I don't like books about it. I'm glad that Lib gets to bond with his father and boost his self confidence. It has a coming of age theme to it and the author's description at times is poetic. It would make a great read for campers. Thanks for the review.
“Reading is escape, and the opposite of escape; it's a way to make contact with reality after a day of making things up, and it's a way of making contact with someone else's imagination after a day that's all too real.” :techie-studyingbrown:

Thanks for the review, as we often go camping with our teenage boys I think I will enjoy this one. I will definitely pass it on to my sons as well, I believe that they will relate to Lib and his experiences.

A story about a kid on a camping trip who would rather be home reading. I can relate. My dad forced me to go camping several times a year, but I never enjoyed it. Thanks for the review, Cataclysmic. :?

Great review! I've never been camping and it seems like I can finally "experience" it by reading this . It would also be intriguing to see how Lib grows into his skin.

It sounds like this was a nostalgic YA book for you. It found its perfect reviewer! Thanks for your characterization of the rich imagery. Great review.

As a HS teacher, I sometimes struggle to help the males find the perfect book. Today's adventurous, coming-of-age BOTD sounds like it would make a great addition to our classroom library! Lacking in self-confidence and feeling more like an outsider than "part of the gang," a teen's camping trip turns out to be one of unexpected transformation and self-discovery. Thank you so much for your review. It was really helpful! :-)

Thanks for the review! This sounds like a very laid back read that will take you out of your usual routine and into nature. I agree with the reviewer that details are nice but too many details can ruin a great story. Nonetheless, this sounds like a great read, I'll give it a go! Thanks!

I have never been out camping and I do not think I will ever go on one. Still, "Welcome to Shadow Creek" by Don Williams sounds like a fictional story that lovers of this genre would find interesting.

I appreciate the idea of a story within a story, but it doesn't sound like that plan was executed well here. Great review!

All my life, I have never gone camping. I guess this book will be a great way to experience outdoor living.

A book about a camping trip seems to be interesting.

This book sounds like one that readers who want to experience camping without experiencing camping would enjoy. Haha! I enjoy fiction novels, but this book just doesn't pull at me and pique my interest. This feels more like a family story about a character coming out of their shell and spending time with those around him. There, for me, doesn't sound like there is really any adventure or anything to make me want to pick this book up. For that reason, I will be passing on reading this book.

I can relate to the bad camping experiences. It seemed like it was always downpouring when I went. This sounds interesting, mostly for the character Lib, though I do find camping stories pretty dull. I might give it a try for Lib and the vivid descriptions you mentioned.
