Great review. I remember taking my son to the Cub Scout camps and the experience was something to remember. I think this is a book that my kids would like to read. I will add it to my list.

Unfortunately, I am not the one for going to camping or family got together story books. I greatly enjoy to experience nature in person, but not though descriptions printed on page. No mater how detailed and beautifully they are made. Sorry, buy I will have to skip it.

A Young Adult tale which revolves around a camping trip of a shy boy sounds interesting.
Feeling upset sometimes may be unavoidable, but acting distressed is always optional.

It has all the things I love. It's a YA novel, there is camping, family, friendship, and even poetic descriptions. Thanks for the review!

I was impressed by this review. Even though I love camping, I've never been able to get extremely interested in books that actually are about it. While saying that, though, after the review I would almost consider picking this book to read! I usually am intrigued when reading about people gaining self confidence and the way it comes about. Thanks for taking the time to review it!

This sounds like it could be a nice, nostalgic read to some, however, this one's not for me. Thank you for your review though.

This sounds like a great, natural coming-of-age novel. Lib's character as the outsider is wonderfully relatable to other youth who feel like the odd one out. Too bad about the grammatical errors. Thanks for a lovely review!

Your review made me laugh because it reminded me of my days in Girl Scouts. We had an annual camping trip when I was around eight years old and it was not a fun experience. My mom went with us as the adult supervision, but she slept on an air mattress. I, on the other hand, was stuck with ten other girls in a large tent and didn't sleep well. I think that the author is great with words especially how he can make the reader feel as if they are there. I agree with your rating as someone who has had similar experiences that this might not always be a good thing.

Based on your review, it seems that I would really enjoy this book. At first, I didn't think that this book for me based on the title and the cover. It sounds like a very nice, fun, and enjoyable YA novel. I will add this book to my list.

Excellent review! I have never been one to enjoy camping. I grew up in the country, and that was as much as I wanted to experience without sleeping outside in a tent! As I read the sample to this book, I couldn't help but feel some of the descriptiveness was a little overdone. I could have done without the extensive description of how breath smells! When I think of surrounding scenery, I don't necessarily consider broken down fences and buildings and junkyards some of my favorite things to gaze upon! I'm sure the story is a good read for some, but I believe I will pass on this one. Thanks for the insightful review. I enjoyed reading it.

Sounds like the author has managed to portray the wonder as well as the inconvenience of camping! Not sure if this has enough of a plot whole my interest.

Thanks for your review! I would probably feel similarly to Lib if I had to go on a camping trip. I agree that switching to a secondary story can be jarring; it's a shame that Spud and Termite's plot wasn't more interesting. It's great that the story was able to transport you back to your childhood.
