This sounds like a great addition to the library of fantasy and I will be interested to see where it fits in, between The Lord of the Rings, to Game of Thrones. The plot and the characters sound slightly different so this should be a refreshing change to a lot of the fantasy already out there. Being the first book in a series I look forward to this on order to decide whether it will be worth reading the whole collection. Thank you for an enjoyable review.

An emperor is scared that his four sons will betray him, so he sends them to separate islands and they eventually start a civil war among themselves. Our main character is born during this horrible war time. I enjoyed the story-telling tone of this book. After checking the sample, I decided to continue reading this story.

I loved Game of Thrones, and if this book is anywhere near as good, I'm sure I will love it. Thank you for a great review!

This is not my kind of book (I am the only one among my friends not to have watched or read game of Thrones) even though your review is so well written.

We are Voulhire, what to say. As much as it is written rather simply as if for children rather than adults,I will probably finish reading the first book in order to better assess the writing style of the author. That is not to say it is not a good book, it just means I find the writing style very childish.

"We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies" by Matthew Tysz sounds great. A fantasy sci-fi about a magical kingdom. Sounds fascinating. Too bad about the minor errors though.

I'm not a major fan of science fiction. After reading the sample I decided against this BOTD, however, your review has persuaded me to look further into reading more of the novel.

This is not my preferred genre, but I'm certainly intruiged by the plot premise. Fans of the genre should find a gem in this book. Great review.

The feel of this plot reminds me of Elantris by Brandon Sanderson, one of my favorite novels! Thanks for your generosity in sharing your work, Matt. Can't wait to read this!

I got this book way back on March and even though it certainly wasn't what I was anticipating after reading the description I surprisingly anyway was able to enjoy it enormously. I couldn't rest until I was able to read whole series and ended up as huge fan of it!
