I wish it were scary.

One thing that I love is the sound. It was very clever. It's something that is easily imagined, really heard, and is a very distinct sound, so it plays well. :)

I finished it. I enjoyed it, a lot in some ways.
But I'm kind of disappointed because it wasn't explained why Cotgrave had to write that down. What did it get him? It was just such a big deal, not having it come to anything feels wrong.

I found the author's note very interesting, and apparently have a new thing to read!

I liked the atmosphere of the book as well.

I agree, the ending was rather weak. I enjoyed the book, so I rated it 3/4.

What new read? I probably missed that.

"The White People" by Arthur Machen

Cotgrave's lost book (and the manuscript he wrote) is based on it.
