The Spirit of Want is a other fiction book by William H. Coles. It's such a capturing story that I didn't wish to see it's end. Everyone who loves a well-edited work of fiction would enjoy this book.
Luke Osbourne is in a trauma holding unit after an accident he was involved with Lucy. Lucy was driving and over-speeding. She was indicted and charged with vehicular manslaughter. Her case was withdrawn and she fell in love with Dr. Luke. Poor Lucy is pregnant with Luke's child and she admits procuring an abortion. She claims to have no time for children. It's from this point that their marriage takes another turn. A bitter one because Lucy abandons her family and gets so much attracted to Hower Bain. She sets on a journey to Africa to spend time with Hower, who had gone there for a Christian mission.
Lucy is a lawyer and adopted child to the MacMiel's family. She's blinded by her desire for Reverent Hower Bain, a client who she had taken his case. Hower Bain was accused of assaulting an underage girl. She leaves behind her daughter Jennifer under the care of her half-sister, Elizabeth. The girl dies at a tender age after suffering from Acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
William H. Coles is a gifted author. His description of different scenes are exceptionally vivid. I felt involved in the whole book. The author's choice of words is unique. The language is colorful and a lot of humor employed which makes the story captivating. The setting of the story is in modern society, places like hospitals where the author is concerned with the very critical procedures that are done wrongly and the truth covered. A.J MacMiel is the perfect example, in this case, he had a surgical operation on the wrong eye that led to the death of a patient.
This book is so rich in educative content and critical themes that cover most aspects of human lives. William H. Coles is addressing such issues to create awareness for the reader and the public. He has a message concerning the decisions we humans make in our day to day lives. Each decision has an impact on our future lives and those of others. We should, therefore, consider an evaluation of the outcomes of each move we make.
I liked Elizabeth most. She has a caring heart for everyone. She's even willing to donate a kidney to Lucy. She takes full responsibility for nurturing Jennifer.
I didn't like Lucy MacMiel, she's self-centered and selfish. She was even mocked by a reverent that she thinks herself better than others. All the same, I enjoyed reading the book.
The Spirit of Want deserves a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. The book is professionally edited. There are no aspects that I would like to change in this book. I recommend this great work of William to the lovers of fiction and mature teens. Though there is some violence and abuse, William does well at keeping the graphic nature to a minimum. However, I would not recommend this book for a young audience due to its mature themes. You will thank me for the recommendation.
