Hm sounds like a thrill filled spy novel, but I really couldn't single this one out if I walked up to the thriller novels aisle to pick out a book. The setting is unique, I'll give it that. But the font on the cover that tries to give it an eastern vibe is completely out of place; that font is similar to the Hindi script, you'll find that in India. It's nothing like Arabic, which I assume is what the author was going after. It gives me the impression the author personally isn't that familiar with the setting he's writing about--and that just takes away so much of the appeal for this book.
I guess people who aren't familiar with the real middle east will find this interesting, but for someone who does know a fair bit, this might seem a bit fake.

There is nothing like a good character. Most children would dream they are the superheroes thay idolise. Believe me, most of us adults, in our minds, are the characters in the people we see, stories we hear and books we read. Nice review.

The sample of this book was very well written. I'd like to buy whole version of it, mainly because Lara, being strong female character, certainly piqued my interest. East Wind is a great, deeply absorbing work and I look forward to reading more.

Thanks for a good summary in your review. I was impressed, in reading the excerpt from the book, how it jumped into the action so quickly. It made me want to keep reading. I noticed, too, as did you, about the differing points-of-view, even up to jumping back in forth from 2013 to 1999 and back again.

What I read of the excerpt interested me but I do have one question for you as the reviewer who has read the whole thing: did you find it difficult to follow all the various internal story arcs? What I mean is, I've always enjoyed movies made from Tom Clancy's books, but the books themselves are so complicated that the way he jumps from story arc to story arc can get confusing. I'm left wondering, "Who was this again?" Did you find that in this book? Of course, this book is shorter than a Clancy novel, so maybe it's not an issue. Thoughts?
