E-M-P Honeymoon: Kelly and Tom by Dorothy May Mercer is the story of newlyweds CCPD Sgt. Tom Turbulo and his bride Kelly who are on their honeymoon at a beautiful island resort in Honduras. However, their romantic honeymoon innocently turns into a dangerous entanglement in a terrorist plot against the United States.

While shopping in a quaint gift shop Kelly found on her honeymoon, she discovers it is a front for a sophisticated computer lab. As she is looking around the lab, Kelly is attacked and narrowly escapes. When Tom hears what happened, he and Kelly return to the area, and Tom goes to check out the gift shop. In an alley behind the shop, he finds a large, locked shipping container. What is in the box, and why did someone attack Kelly? The couple finds themselves involved in a terrorist plot with CIA Special Agent Steve Spalding and two female bodyguards, Sharon, and Agatha who were sent to protect Kelly. The five risk their lives to find out what is in the shipping container; what information can they get from the computers in the lab; is this the terrorist group threatening the United States; and, what kind of attack are they planning?

Although this book is in the romance genre, it is more of a fast-paced action thriller. The honeymoon perception seems to fall by the wayside as Tom and Kelly become more involved with trying to figure out what the terrorist group's plans are. There are multiple characters woven into the story, and Mercer does an excellent job of defining each one. The plot is intense and exciting, and the reader will find themself caught up in the action and suspense of the story. However, with the word honeymoon in the title, I expected more romance.

Mercer assimilates some humor into the story, which I found enjoyable. My favorite part of the book was the developing relationship between Sharon and Steve after their initial meeting of mistrust, and Sharon's animosity toward Steve in the beginning. What I disliked most was the leader of the terrorist group, Rhee Su-Jin, who is intelligent enough to lead a group of terrorists on a crucial mission, yet came across as timid and almost frightened when posing as a tourist on the beach. I didn't feel her character fit her role in the story.

Overall the book is well-edited. There are a couple of times I noticed the wrong character's name used; otherwise, I found only three misspelled words. The book was enjoyable to read, and the story flowed smoothly from one chapter to the next. There are no erotic scenes and only a couple of curse words in this book, making it appropriate for older teens to senior adults. It is without hesitation that I give E-M-P Honeymoon: Kelly and Tom by Dorothy May Mercer 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend this book to those who love fast-paced action and intrigue in a novel, with just a hint of romance and humor.

It definitely is misleading, as you said with the word honeymoon in the title, we don't get much romance in this book. I enjoyed this book too. You did a good job with the review!

Great, nicely worded review! I recently wrote a review on EMP Honeymoon, as well, and am waiting for it to be published. I had a lot of the same comments but I did find 10+ errors so I rated it 3/4 stars.

The honeymoon part was very Desperate I was really hoping for something more like exciting but, it came out that everything turn on the opposite

As the tittle of the book indicated 'honey' the book was supposed to be romantic so we all can taste the honey embedded in the book.

I appreciate the well done review.
Abandoning honeymoon and engaging in an investigative task is a sign of great sacrifice and awkward at the same time.
The title given to the book does not reflect the content in the book. I think that even the grouping as a romance book is misled.
