Crime and Punishment which publication

Post by hannibal2469 »

Hi
i decided to read Crime and punishment,
and everyone is saying that the p&v translation is the best, can anyone tell me which Publication
has that translation. I have searched and i really cant find which publication has it, also im assuming a particular publication has only one translation of the book. its difficult cause these books dont have the names of the translators

Search the catalogue of your public library. I found various entries including the following:

“Crime and Punishment” by Dostoyevsky, Fyodor, 1821-1881.
Introduction by W. J. Leatherbarrow.
Translation by Richard Pevear and Larissa Volokhonsky.
Copyright © Libri GmbH. All rights reserved.
Publisher: Viking.
Pub Date: 1991.
Pages: 564 p
ISBN: 1561387142

Over the years, other translators have been Constance Garnett, Michael Scammell and David McDuff.

At the risk of being repetitive, you can go online and log on to any public library catalogue around the world.
You are free to search library catalogues for any information you require - it's all there.

My husband and I listened to a CD of some translation or other on our last trip. Quite a story! Made me wonder when current books will be considered classics, as this one is.

I have the PV translation published by Vintage Classics. Quite a good looking book I'd say.
