I like this kind of fiction and because it is about a family that makes it more interesting and brings me back to my childhood. Great review!

Historical fiction is not normally my go-to, but the cast of characters in this book sound lovable. Annie's drive to become a nurse in turbulent times is an admirable trait and I like how this starts out as a coming-of-age story and then progresses into adulthood. Thanks for the great review!

I love historical fiction, especially those that are well written and about/after WWII. This review is encouraging and I look forward to reading the book, since it takes on the family perspective.

While reading your review, memories flash back to my mind during my childhood days. I must finish reading the sample of this book to learn some historic things happened after world war II. Thank you for the awesome review. :techie-studyingbrown:

This review makes me excited to read this book. The characters and writing sound so rich and engaging, and the story itself encompassing. I expect to have trouble putting it down.

A historical fiction novel set in Australia in the mid-twentieth century shows a perspective of children isolated from the war and how they grew up in an evolutionary period of history after World War II. Recommended for those who enjoy stories of family relationships.

This seems like a well written historical fiction. A memoir of growing up in Australia post world war II. Readers of the genre should certainly check this out. Congratulations to the author and thanks for sharing a thoroughly descriptive review.

A coming of age story amidst war must be frightening to anybody, much less to a young girl. From the highest rating accorded by the reviewer, this novel seemed to be well-written so congrats!

:P Historical fiction is usually my kind of genre and so River Kids by Jennie Linnane is definitely going to be among my to read list books. The fact that it talks about world war two qualifies it even more. Thank you for the free copy of the book. Congratulations on the BOTD. Great review.

It sounds like this is truly a character-driven story. I'm happy to hear about the historical elements included as well.
