I'm not a fan of crime or romance books. Although, the characters seem to be interesting. Especially, a once star trying to hang on to her glory days.

Thank you so much for your review!

I love true crime and mystery novels, and you did a great job in giving a very descriptive review!

I am not a huge fan of a lot of language, so I may pass on this one, but I do appreciate your review!

From my vantage, Sophie's pretentious life was simply because she couldn't really believe that her glory days were no more. She didn't find grey hair dignifying. Such are often seen in our society today.
This review is insightful.

I'm seriously glad I have this book now in my kindle! The title and cover first made me interested but after reading this review, I am definitely going to read this! This review is very insightful and I love how the chracters who made the biggest impact where mentioned. This seems like a dark, mystery, suspense and action-packed book and just thinking about a screen actress who's now sixty and has fallen for a bad guy with ties to the Corsican mob makes it very exciting to read. Hollywood actress plus mob plus NYPD plus special ops combat...I can't wait to read this!

Laura Lee wrote: 12 Jan 2020, 14:47 Excellent review! This isn't my typical genre, but I really like your description of all the thematic elements that make it a good read, as well as your analysis of it. And, just in case no one else has mentioned it, Albert Camus is an historical figure. He was a French philosopher and writer. He actually won the Nobel Prize for literature in 1957. He died in 1960, so I'm wondering when this story was set. What decade? I guess I'll go read the sample pages to find out. :D
Thank you for your kind words, and also for this enlightening piece of information. I had no idea.
I finished the sample pages and, despite being intrigued, am going to pass on this one. Does he explain Albert Camus's ghost later in the book? That appearance seemed so random and odd.

A fast-paced, action-packed, easy read thriller that crime busters will enjoy. I do hope Sophia learnt her lesson and kicked Tony to the curb eventually. The characters sound diverse and well-developed. Thank you great review. I enjoyed it.

The plot line sounds very realistic and the character of Sophie reminds me of many stars in the Golden Age of Hollywood that saw their fame fade away as they aged. I like that the book was written with two author, one of whom is an actual private investigator. The author must have used his prior cases as inspiration for this story. The plot line also reminds me of many of the shows that I watch on Investigation Discovery. I cannot wait to read more books by these authors.

That's a nice review. I see that Tony is the bad person here trying to lure ladies into bad activities but Sophie manage to pull herself together and get out of that situation. I recommend most single ladies to read and beware of such type of activities.I'm on this thrilling book - 4/4 :techie-studyingbrown:
