I was won over by your review of this book. I honestly can't wait to read this book. I love the setting by the river, the peace and quiet. And often people separate themselves from others because of some emotional hurt. I'm looking forward to finding out how he heals from the pain of betrayal. Thank you for a great review!

A story about family and various dynamics that many of us can honestly relate to. It sounds like a book that many will enjoy, but I don't think that this book will be one that interests me so I'm going to pass on reading. Thank you for the interesting review!

I am somewhat doubtful that I will be enjoying great deal going through family relationships and struggles between them. It reminds me all too much one of those reality shows, which I consider as bad television. Sorry, but I will have to skip this book.

What the River Wants is intriguing. I am hooked and anxious to read the story in its entirety. Tom's solitary life is intriguing, and I can't wait to find out the real reason for his lifestyle. The grandson is bound to find out how important family really is, and a few more lessons along the way.

This sounds like a wonderful story. I can relate to Tom. I am not quite as withdrawn from society as he is, but other than my son, I am not close to anyone in my family. I do see my mother a fair bit and my brother twice a year, but they don't know anything about what is really going on in my life. It is difficult to get close to people in my family.

You were right, it is a slow-pacing story but you had me at "surprising twists." The author's opening didn't capture my interest much but I do feel that it's worth the read because the author writes well and shows emotions rather than plain descriptions of what is happening. It seems like a simple and run-of-the-mill family story where the protagonist returns to his roots and discovers more than he expected. I don't have close family ties and just recently had a chance to reconnect with my mom for the first time during the Holidays. It was awkward so I think I may be able to relate with this story. Thank you for this helpful review! I'll read the book in the future.

This sounds like a great story to use as an introspective of my own family and roots. I think every family is dysfunctional in its own way! I'm definitely planning to continue reading this book beyond the preview to find out the secrets and successes of the family therein. Perhaps it will give me some perspective as a grandparent of a teenage boy... Great review!

A family related story book! Each family has its' own unique story. What makes this book more interesting is it's centered about life particularly relationship.

Filled with descriptions and life lessons, today's BOTD is a fictional read set in the South that focuses on family relationships, self-discovery, and growth. To find our future, we must first come to terms with our past, even when it hurts. And, whether we are ready or not, life keeps moving...just like a river. Thank you for the amazing review! :-)

An interesting novel regarding the complexity of family relationships. Something that we do not learn enough about in our younger
years. This makes it a most interesting educational book to read as it a little extra wisdom is very helpful in family matters.

After years of distancing himself from his family, I am sure it would be uncomfortable to face hurtful things in his past and to repair his relationship with his family. Lee may be a good bridge between his family members and his grandfather.

Great review. Understanding your family history is important, as it can bring the family closer together. The rest of the book sounds very interesting to me, so I’ll have to check it out.

Tom sounds like an interesting and deep character. The book in general sounds like it would be a good read.
