This sounds like a wonderful read. The review is well-written and very informative. Thanks a lot for the review. I am adding the book to my shelf.

I like that the story has many generations of characters trying to find out what their role in the family and the rest of the world is. It'll be interesting to see how Tom deals with a memory of a betrayal. Great review.

Having grown up in Louisiana, many of the descriptions and places (such as Slidell) mentioned in the sample hit home with me. The recalcitrant Tom reminded me a lot of my own Paw-paw. We didn't have a log cabin, but we did have a pond and a creek that we enjoyed fishing together in. He didn't talk a lot, and I will never know his secrets, but by reading this book, maybe I can get some insight into Tom's. Thanks for the recommendation!

In a world where we are growing increasingly reliant on social media and technology, the importance and frequency of authentic human connection and familial relationships starts to become smaller. In that context, this novel sounds like a must-read. I think all those who value family might enjoy this one. :) This is a brilliantly written review!

Families have different dynamics and sometimes an occurrence can make people distance themselves. Tom's story is a journey of self-discovery, healing, and familial love. Thank you for an enlightening review.

It's good to have a book focused on families and it's importance, as we all need each other.
Great review!

Such a dedicated self-reliance can often be a person's downfall, but each to their own and the path they choose to walk. Your review weaves a persuasive tale that leaves a positive impression on me. Will have to check this one out!

This book sounds like it is full of well developed characters that we can all relate to. I am excited to read a bit about Tom and his family. Great review!

Nice review. I wonder what secrets Tom's past hold and why he keeps his family at a distance.

Thanks for the review, but I'm not into "pensive family-focused novel[s]", so I won't be reading this story about Tom and his family.

The truth is, i was so scared of what lee would find. Like how will he find his grandpa? Will he be changed? In my opinion, family is everything we need and a good relationship between the members, builds an awesome pack.I loved the book and the review....

A novel set around family relationships, their inner and outer circles sounds interesting. Fans of family stories would certainly enjoy this.

A book rich with life and focused on family dynamics and establishing relationships sounds like a good read. Although the title had me confused at the beginning, I enjoyed your review. I don't really enjoy books like this though so I think I'll pass. Congratulations on being the BOTD.

Family relationships are very important in all of our lives. And searching for their role in family and the world in general is something we all do at one point in life. I really enjoyed the review. However I will pass this book for now. Thank you for a great review.

I like psychological books that make me think and stimulate readers to confront morality issues as well as life's nuances and ambiguities. Perhaps this book might reveal the folly of one relying solely on themselves, helping to nip such actions in the bud before the mentality takes root and the person realizes too late that complete independence from people is impossible. Thanks for the review.
