Thanks for the review, it is sad that so many older people tend to keep their struggles to themself. This sound like a very insightful story that has a lot to teach.

I like the sound of the Mississippi and the river providing a certain kind of atmosphere throughout the book, and any story with weird family dynamics is good in my opinion. However on reading the sample I found that the author was doing a lot of telling and not enough showing, so I’m going to pass on this one.

Life in the wild these days is a treat to people who are tired of city life. Reading this book makes me want to experince again the calmness and the promised adventure of the forest. Just love the way how the author wrote it. 👪👍

I really love the major theme of the book, "it is the core of a person that really matters" and I like that each character has a vibrant backstory. I love because that makes me think of how I'd confront these issues if I were in Tom's shoes.

I love stories that focus on family and rekindling relationships, and self-discoveries. I also love the setting in Mississippi, so I think I would like this book.

It is never fun when a family member separates himself/herself from the family for whatever reason. I would like to see what happens with Tom at the end. Great review!

I love character-driven novels, especially when they show that people who distance themselves from family and other loved ones have their reasons for being the way they are. Of course, that also means that such books can hit a little close to home, particularly as they dive deeper into family dynamics. Thank you for the helpful review.

A memoir that explores family dynamics and dysfunctional relationships sounds quite engaging. However, I don't think I'll be reading this one anytime soon. Thanks for the brilliant review.

I think I can relate to this story. There was once a time where I kept my distance from family. And even now that we are trying to be apart of each other lives now, there is still a distance. I was in a situation once where I was being evicted or lived in my car even and I kept up appearances to avoid family finding out. I hope in this case his family was able to keep him from losing his cabin. I think this will be a good story but this one isn't for me. Congratulations on BOTD.
