This sounds interesting. While I love historical fiction, I have not read much about the Gold Rush. Sounds like you enjoyed it and would definitely be interesting to read and have a deeper look at this period in time!

A historical novel which touches on economics and socialism, by the sounds of things. All of this in the gold rush era in America. We had the same here in South Africa and the stories of that period are highly romantic and full of adventure. The main character sounds interesting and well developed although I do believe that he was very much of an idealist. The review is interesting and comprehensive, and I enjoyed reading it.

I'm not exactly what you would call a lover of historical books but your review of the book is so enticing that part of me wants to try the book out. Well I think I will follow that part of me, maybe I might see what you perhaps might have seen while reading the book. Congrats to the author of the BOTD

Thanks Lina. Interesting title there. I don't like story developments that seem too convenient though.

I loved reading your review, and I'm happy to hear you enjoyed today's BOTD! Unfortunately, it is not the one for me, as I'm not a fan of historical fiction, but those who are fans, sound like they are in for a treat! When a book is written and edited as well as this one, it makes reading so much more enjoyable. Thank you, again! :-)

This historical fiction trashes place in California during the gold rush. The main character is a good man with honorable values. It sounds like it was a real page-turner.

My heart longs for a novel of this nature. Not just because it is in the historic genre but because it seem to be a book one could relax on and considering it is an all religion book. Thank you for the review!

I have not read a historical fiction that takes places during the gold rush, so this sounds interesting. I will read it if I get a chance to.

Playing Chess with God by Verne R. Albright sounds interesting and unique. As a lover of historical fiction books, this seems that those few well-written books that one can't skip majorly because the book is based on real events. I will definitely add it to my to-read list. Congratulations on the BOTD. Great review.

This sounds like the kind of book that I would enjoy. I am a Colorado native, and the Gold Rush is a subject that holds great interest for me. Also, I enjoy historical fiction. Thank you for your informative review. :tiphat:

I love me some historical fiction too, but not when there is more history than fiction; this book doesn't seem to fall into that trap. I also understand and agree with the point the reviewer makes about the book missing a major villain. Ultimately, this sounds like a great book. Thanks for this review.
