I like historical fiction. I'd love to learn more about the California Gold Rush and this book sounds perfect for this.

When reading a historical fiction novel I often wonder how many parts of it are influenced by real events. Thank you for your review and an intriguing look inside this novel.

It's mind-boggling to imagine a lawful, honest, and caring protagonist in the midst of unlawful individuals during the California Gold Rush. For fans of historical fiction, this sounds like an awesome book to read. Great review!

You say there's no proper villain and that the antagonists are too easily vanquished. While that should be detrimental to the story - and for a moment I felt disappointed to hear that - I'm now looking forward to good easily triumphing! Just for something different, a wish fulfilled...

I love historical fiction novel. A too perfect antagonist is quite unreal but not bad at all. The book sounds promising. A wonderful review.

I am of the opinion that the plot may have been a bit more action packed had there also been a main villain. However, the plot is still an interesting one and I am also curious about this period of history.

Thanks for the review. So this book is a historical novel with some good characters of a business mindset. Sounds interesting but I don't think I can keep up with the characters appearing and disappearing.

From a sampling, this seems like an interesting historical fiction about or occurring around the time of the California Gold Rush. The story follows a Puritan that has fallen in love with a Chilean woman and decides to move to California before anyone else. It seems like it might be worth a second look. Well done.
