It seems like the book might benefit much from a glossary of names at the back. It's a plus that it's also well edited. Thanks for the review!

Thanks for the wonderful and informative review. I am happy that the book is packed with lots of stories that make reading more interesting. I have added the book to my shelf.

Thanks for the review. I appreciate that you mentioned that there are a lot of names being thrown around. I find this distracting as well and I find myself glazing over names just as you did. But I am glad that there aren't any errors and that there isn't a lot of corporate lingo. I got a copy.

:techie-reference: Congrats to Major General Craig B. Whelden for BOTD honors. "Leadership" sounds like a book that would inspire and instruct those of us who have the responsibility to affect the lives of others. It has been said that "Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment" and I think that this book would contribute to these attributes.

I was a senior officer in our country's military as well, therefore I look forward to reading this book and comparing the author's experiences to mine, especially considering that he held a very senior rank. It will also be interesting to read about major news events from the perspective of the General. There will not be many editing mistakes in this book as officers are well trained in correct writing procedures for documents that they produce in the execution of their military duties. I enjoyed your comprehensive review.

Thank you for the review. This book seems to encapsulate everything I would look for in a leadership read. The author has relevant experience leading over a number of years, has valid examples or vignettes of that leadership in action, and establishes principles that can guide other leaders. I am especially excited that this book is free today so there is absolutely no question I will add it to my collection and read it. I look forward to doing so.

I liked your review. You have included both your opinion and a summary of the book. Your rating is fair and justified. Well done!

Who says leaders are born, not made? The subtitle says it all; it’s all about inspiring people, not giving orders. Sounds like a great book by a man who has the credentials to back up the advice he gives; I may give this one a look. Thanks for the review, Kislany.:techie-studyingbrown:

This is a very complex and detailed review of a book that is so different from what I have read so far. All I know about the US army is from the movies, so finding out of the real thing is exciting. The author's personal experience of 9/11 would be interesting for me to read. I saw it happen on the TV, it was hard to believe it was really happening. So real-time events viewed from different parts of the world. What I agree most with is the issue of the many names quoted or mentioned. It seems that the author shifted his focus from the general public to those he knew, so making them happy to see their names in his book prevailed over the desperation of a reader who cannot cope with the multitude of names that they knew they would forget right after closing the book.

An engaging and entertaining, educational book "Leadership" by Craig B. Whelden, which gives a fascinating glimpse of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Marine Corps. The author shares his experiences as a major general who has spent major portion of his life in the various divisions of the military. The book looks quite inspirational.
life is only knowing the unknown, we can do this by reading books easily- Online book club is a great place for this. This is what I believe.

Thanks for the review, but I'm not interested in the author's story, and I have less than zero interest in being in a leadership position, so I definitely will not be reading this book.

Interesting book on leadership. This is a book I would trust to teach the right thing about leadership. I like that Craig Whelden has hands-on experience in leadership and that his book uses that experience to teach us on leadership. Thanks Kislany for a wonderful review. Congratulations BOTD.
