Conquering the Life Balance Hoax by Donna Cornell is a self-help book, but it can also be considered a biography. I'd categorize this book as being something between an ultimate guide for modern women who want to live a successful life and an introductory book on entrepreneurship. The author defends the idea that the lives of all human beings are comprised of three circles representing "Work," "Relationships," and "Self." The idea that a modern woman can successfully live a balanced life every day is an impossibility.

If something significant occurs in one of the three circles, that circle will balloon, while the others may contract. That's life, and you have to get used to it. Nobody should waste energy trying to, like many women nowadays, live an impossible life. The modern woman must realize which of the three circles is the predominant in her life at that time. Besides, the book contains very bright advice on how to set up a successful business.

What I liked most about Conquering the Life Balance Hoax was to find out the story of a powerful woman who climbed the social ladder and overcame countless difficulties. At a specific point in her life, Donna Cornell decided that what she most wanted was to be economically successful and find her financial independence. She not only helped a multitude of people in the process but also served on both not-for-profit and for-profit boards and committees. The list of achievements is so long that it is difficult to name them all.

If there is anything to be criticized in Conquering the Life Balance Hoax, it is a tendency to repeat the same things over and over again. The author makes it clear from the beginning of the book that this was done on purpose. According to her, repetition is one of the best ways to memorize and learn new things. I couldn't agree more. When I am interested in a subject, I usually read the book more than once. Perhaps it would have been simpler to write (in the introduction) something like this: "It is advisable to read the book more than once." I am not naive to think that all readers would follow the advice, but I still believe that the author should have done differently.

All told, I rate Conquering the Life Balance Hoax by Donna Cornell four out of four stars. The reason is simple: there are many points to be praised and few to be criticized. It is even debatable whether the flaw mentioned in the paragraph above is a defect. The author aware that most people would not read the book more than once may have decided to write it that way on purpose. I found only one grammatical error (semicolon misuse) and one example of light profanity. Thus, there is no reason to take one star away. Some men may indeed benefit from the tips that Donna provides. Nevertheless, the audience for this book is women. I recommend it to all modern women who want to live well and without anxiety.

Heart! We will forget him!
You an I, tonight!
You may forget the warmth he gave,
I will forget the light.

When you have done, pray tell me
That I my thoughts may dim;
Haste! lest while you're lagging.
I may remember him!

The life balance subject is always an interesting subject to venture into, and I think it affects men as much too. I agree with the idea of identifying with and dealing with the predominant circle at a time, with the view of ensuring the other important circles are not forgotten.
Thank you for the review.

The part on how to set up a successful business would be the most interesting to me. And, of course, I'm always ready to read a story of a successful woman. We need more of those. :D

Thank you for the review.
I'd go along with that. I believe that women suffer more pressure from society to look and act a certain way, though. Thanks for your feedback, Joshua. I really appreciate it. :tiphat:

You are welcome.

Yours is a first-hand information, so I will take it and learn; the-more-pressure-for-ladies part!
