I loved this book. It is not my usual genre but I enjoyed this one. My favorite was Adam and Carly's relationship. The worse thing was Carly's mom dying. In my opinion this was a 4 star book!

Based on your post I may just have to read this one! Sounds interesting!

I tend to look back at a book like it was better than I thought it was while reading it. I probably did that when I reviewed this book, but I'm still on the fence. I rated it a 3. For some reasons, I think it might deserve a 2, but I think I've skewed my own rating system. The first book I reviewed here was not great, but I didn't know yet if that was par for the course with the books we got. I would rate it differently now. Between 1 and 4 is not a lot of room for middle ground, though. While some things in this book appealed to me, I wasn't a fan of everything. It brings up some interesting questions for me, though.

I honestly didn’t like it. I found it a sloppy plot, like two many ideas smashed together incorrectly. I gave a 2 out of 4 stars. Carly and Adam’s relationship was toxic, till that one moment at the end where they have dinner with Kane and Jo. A completely average book, in my opinion.

Overall, I think this book is a creative book, and it would make a good movie. What I like most is Adam's character. I like how he evolved. There is nothing I like least. I'd recommend this book to teenagers and young adults because of how captivating the book is. The book is worth a 4 star rating.

Are zero stars an option? I couldn't even finish it. The author just felt like they were patting themselves on the back every page by piling on unnecessary metaphors. Scanning the first page right now there's two paragraphs, two sentences a piece, and three of those four sentences are back-to-back metaphors. WHY?!? The dialogue is stale. I'm confused as to how Adam can be both deeply disturbed and utterly boring? In theory one should preclude the other. Words seem chosen either arbitrarily or for obscurity from a thesaurus- " there’s a very noticeable rumbling inside of his thorax". Why are we using the word thorax? Is he an insect? No really, is he, I couldn't finish it. If he ends up half man/half grasshopper I'll let my complaint go.

I would recommend this book to people I hated or any 1990's goths I find that like to whine about "society" and how it doesn't understand them while hanging out in their suburban basement eating pizza bites their mom made them.

I must be the only person who didn't love this book. i rated it 2 out of 4 stars. The point of view and writing style really bothered me. I felt no connection to the characters because of it.

I have finished the 2nd book and awaiting the drop of the 3rd said to come this month. I am still not convinced that this is a 4 out of 4 start book series, but I am more so interested in seeing if it comes to a decent close or if she pulls out another book in this series. The dynamics are still pushing me away from loving this book series completely. Although I can't completely hate it considering that it is meant for a younger age group. The books still make me think of a squirrel in the fact that everyone always seems to be all over the place. They don't know if they want to be happy, sad, pissed off, an enigma, or an antelope. Typical emotions of a teenager if you ask me.

This book honestly should deserve a 4 out of 4 rating. Reason being that, the theme of the book is amazing and the character development is awesome too. Adam and Carly had a romantic relationship that is not just interesting, but supporting and rational. Tragic occurrence such as Carly's mum death drives sympathy to the heart of the reader. A great read for the teenagers and young adults!

This is one of the rare books I would say could definitely be a movie. I felt like some stuff was unresolved but for the most part, with some cleaning up, it could easily be on the big screen.

I particularly enjoyed the parts dedicated to the blossoming love between Adam and Carly and those detailing more on the Descendants' origins and superpowers. However, I also thought that Adam's violent behavior was overexaggerated and bordered on mental disorder. I would recommend it to more mature readers rather than young adults.

The book was quite okay for me and even if we ignore the obvious 'Adam attracted to his mom' problem, the book still doesn't quite make an impact. Although, there are a few good things about the story, the chunky transition hinders it's flow.

I found myself in a difficult position with this book. I'm a fan of science fiction, but not YA, and unfortunately the YA side of Opaque prevented me from getting truly invested in its world, as interestingly bleak and thought-provoking as that world is.
