Review by godly02 -- Strong Heart by Charlie Sheldon
I took great pleasure in reading the book Strong Heart by Charlie Sheldon, and I must say I am glad I did. I almost stopped reading since the beginning did not hold my attention. Based on the summary I just wanted to get to the part I thought would be interesting. The part where Sarah disappears and something happens that no one believes to be true.
The book revolves around William aka Eye. His close friend Tom, Myra who is the daughter of William and Sarah who happens to be Tom’s granddaughter that he never knew existed. Tom and William had plans of going camping in the mountains to visit Bob-Bob's grave. Bob-Bob is Tom’s grandfather who died a few years back while they were camping.
Sarah is dropped off by her estranged grandmother Ruth, Tom’s ex-wife. Ruth and her husband Fletcher no longer wanted Sarah at their house after 5 days. Sarah was taken there by her stepfather after taking a job in Europe. When Sarah’s mother was 15 years old, she ran away from home and never returned. This is why no one knew Sarah existed.
William decides that they can still take the trip with Sarah. Tom is not too sure if this is a good idea. Sarah was not happy about this idea she already thought that her grandfather's house was the boonies. She claimed that they were at the end of the earth as is. Myra tries to get Sarah to see things differently by saying that this is the Olympic Peninsula. This is a land of magic, history, and legends. A place where there are ancient stories, ancient people and myths.
I would love to sit here and tell you what journey Sarah traveled when she went missing from the woods for 8 days. Let’s just say that Sarah learns that Myra was right since she gets to experience it first-hand. Sarah was on an extraordinary journey that changed all of their lives and brought them closer.
The author did an amazing job of bringing everything together. From every story told to what Sarah experienced it all goes together hand in hand with the way the author describes every little detail it allows you to feel like you are experiencing this trip with her.
I would recommend this book to anyone that likes to read fiction books that cover the native land. There is nothing that I did not enjoy about this book. I do not recall seeing any profanity in the book, there isn’t any adult content and I did not see any grammatical errors. All in all, I would give this book a 4 out of 4-star rating.
