I like your review of this book especially your explanation about passages in the Bible. The phrase about it being easier for a camel to get through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get into heaven was a strong verse to use because I always thought that it meant something else. Your explanation made much more sense in the context of Chuck's life. I like the cover art and the use of the chess piece the king which made me think that this was going to be about chess.

A story that the author writes about memories of her life with her father. At the same time, it is a story of faith in God and how a person, through prayer and the mercy of God, can overcome the love of money and power. Recommended for those who are looking for a touching and true story.

I enjoy reading biographies and might enjoy this one, but the religious aspects have no appeal for me. Thank you for your thorough review.

Chuck sounds like an interesting character. I look forward to reading about how Trish introduced him to the one missing link in his life. Thanks for the review, Mindi. :techie-studyingbrown:

This sounds like an inspiring and emotional read, although I personally will give this a pass due to the religious undertones.

It's wonderful when authors honor the memory of their parents with a book. Truly heartwarming. Congrats to Ms. Topmiller on BOTD.

This is quite an encouraging testimony. Writing about her father's life and influence is a motivation for us to learn to celebrate our parents...

But what about her mother?

This sounds like a deeply personal story. Thank you for an excellent review. I, too, enjoyed the "Chuckisms." That was clever to call them that, too. :)

I'm not usually into religious books, but this does sound enjoyable, and I'm glad you stated that even those who aren't religious would probably enjoy this work. Lovely review.

The perspective of this book is very thought provoking. It sounds like a very gripping book, especially as it is based on real events.

You wrote such a wonderful review. Memories are so precious and they led her to a more fulfilling life.

Though this isn't my cup of tea, it sounds like reading this book enlightened your spirit. I'm really glad you enjoyed it!
