Thank you for your review. I do enjoy reading Greek mythology, so this book does appeal to me. I will add this to my shelf.

I must say, this is an interesting and relatable read. Thank goodness someone, or ‘something’, came to save him. But paying the fairy a price for happiness? That doesn't sound good. Don't do it, Oris.

I also believe the educational system, while making our kids competitive, is a 'talent killer.' But after reading a few sample pages of the book I found the writing style opaque - description overload. Thanks for the in-depth and honest review.

This sounds like a creative book, but I think I‘d get lost in the imagery. There appears to be a bit of profanity as well. I just came across a barrage in the sample pages that was disconcerting. Thank you for your thorough review.

I agree with the author's notion that too much focus is placed on cramming for exams and achieving grades. This has taken much of the fun out of learning. Children who cannot keep up with fight for grades often feel that left out and those who pass their exams often do not retain any information after the exam. This should be a very interesting read.

Oris had an abusive life at home and at school. It seemed difficult to balance making good grades and having time to practice music. I agree that music and art should not be squeezed out to just study for exams and to make good grades. I like that children have many opportunities these days to learn how to play a musical instrument and to pursue art.

This fantasy novel shows that education should teach the arts and not mindless testing. A little boy Oris wants to be a musician but is bullied and punished until the Art Fairy saves him. Congratulations to the author for being chosen as BOTD. Thanks to the reviewer for your interesting review.

This is such an original concept. I like that the author takes time to also offer solutions instead of just criticizing the current system. Moreover, the idea of showing the contrast between two fantasy worlds to portray reality is also a great idea. I hope the main character gets to achieve his dreams. This sounds like a must read for any parent or child or teacher who has a talented fellow to train, like the author pointed out, not every child is suited for the classroom and forcing such a child to attend classes might have a detrimental effect on some other aspects of his/her development. What I suggest that parents or teachers to do is to identify the talents of each child early on and make adequate provisions for their growth, not stifle them

Fantastical realities and parallel words, undernourished minds and overlooked talents... With such a whimsical cover, I never would have suspected there to be an appreciable amount of profanity or violence present!
