In the mood for suspense, some hair-raising, and white knuckle-inducing events? Perhaps the next well-crafted psychological thriller? If that’s you, drop everything and grab a copy of this killer book.

Pity the Devil’s Wife by W. Hanelan plunges readers into a world haunted by satanic rituals, murder, missing twins, secret societies, and state-orchestrated terrorist attacks. Though an excellent psychological thriller, the novel is cleverly interspersed with a satisfying amount of science fiction, romance, crime, and mystery.

When one of Dr. Clare Cordingley’s patients discovers a mangled body at the Twin’s Ranch, he is quickly arrested in connection with the murder. Desperate to clear her patient's name and save him from further heartache and devastation, Clare launches her own investigation into the murder. However, she finds herself pulled into a dark world of satanic rituals. Even with a target on her back and the unsettling events plaguing the ranch, Clare remains resolved to find the killer. Unbeknownst to Clare, the murder at the ranch and demonic rituals barely scratch the surface of all the sinister events happening around them.

W. Hanelan’s first-rate writing style and compelling tone really shine through in this novel. His effortless way with words, vivid descriptions, and the ever-changing atmosphere made me feel as though I was in the world of the characters. The impeccable, intricate plot and captivating characters kept me glued to the pages.

An interesting and informative aspect of this book is that it skillfully traverses the complex dynamics between twins and mental health issues, such as PSD (Psychosis Spectrum Disorder), with very profound detail. The animating of the characters' experiences, issues, and struggles came across as authentic. It quickly became clear that the author is an expert in psychology and biology, as even the scientific aspects were explored with such convincing detail. I absolutely appreciated the masterful blend between science and fiction. It wasn’t always obvious which parts were fiction; most of the proposed ideas and explanations seemed within the realms of possibility.

The narrative also featured conspiracy theories that tie into real-world events. I found it intriguing to see how these events and the theories I was already familiar with were seamlessly incorporated into the main storyline. The various subplots weaved into the main plot often added richness to the narrative. Further, the unexpected twists and turns kept me on my toes. However, it was the mind-blowing ending and revelations that really threw me for a loop. Some of what I suspected but often doubted came to light; nevertheless, most of the revelations caught me off guard.

If I could change anything in this novel, I would eliminate some of the subplots and lengthy backstories (those that didn’t pertain to the main characters), as they only seemed to slow down the pace of the novel. I believe doing so would bring down the page count considerably and tighten the storyline a bit more, making for a through and through intense read.

The creepy rituals, murder mystery, psychological aspects, and brilliant and overall well-executed plot made this book a thrill to read, which is why I rate it a much-deserved 4 out of 4 stars. Additionally, the book appeared to be professionally edited, as I only encountered a few errors in its 500+ pages. Due to the graphic descriptions of violence and moderate suggestive content, I would highly recommend this to an adult audience only.

Demonic rituals, suspense, an intricately impeccable plot... this psychological thriller does seem to offer up a whole smorgasbord of devilish delights! And as a psychiatrist, the mental health disturbances of the deranged always pique my curiosity. Helpful review, thanks for sharing your insights!

Sounds interesting that science, psychiatry and other information has been interwoven into the plot. However, I think the ideas of murders and mysteries do not intrigue me

I know you said it's a thriller, but it also sounds kind of like a horror when you bring PSD and demonic rituals into the mix together. Sounds like a fun ride, but definitely not for me.

This is a fast-paced psychological thriller highlighting LGBTQ, mental illness, murder, secret society, terrorism, and an unexpected ending. The book is temporarily free on Amazon Kindle and has an awesome OnlineBookClub review. I rated it 4 out of 4 stars. Congrats on the BOTD.

Satanic rituals, murder, secret societies and a doctor that wants to prove the innocence of her patient. I think I will give this book a pass, it is not my genre.
