While I agree with you about the word “hangry” possibly confusing young children, made up words like “schnarf” would probably just enchant them. Lewis Carroll and Roald Dahl often invented strange-sounding words, and that was one of the things I loved about their stories and poetry when I was a kid. The book you reviewed has a lovely cast of characters and I like the art style as well!

I am currently reading this book and i am really enjoying it's message. I think i would be reading it to my nieces.

I found the so called slang words a positive element. The linguistics, in general, was very appealing, especially the blend words like “hangry” or “Dynomike”. I rated it 4 out 4. I don't get how it could have a lower rating. If the rest of the books in this series hold the high standards, this is a really nice gift for birthday or Christmas for a kid. It is also a good resource for 1st and 2nd grade teachers.
