This action-packed historical fiction book chronicling the life, military and short political career of Lieutenant General Winfield Scott Hancock sounds like an awesome read for anyone wanting to hear more about this amazing individual.

It is heartwarming to learn of tales like this which is told by veterans themselves. They are now a vanishing breed, the Civil War being so far back in the past, survivors would be 155 years old by now if they were born by that time. Seriously, we have a new breed of soldiers now, say, those who fought in Vietnam who didn't even know what they were fighting for, or those of recent conflicts of which America is not even officially involved as a partisan, but is sending war personnel and supplies, just the same. Thanks for the interesting review.

I like historical fiction novels that teach you about history while wrapped in fictional aspects. It sounds like this book is certainly well written. Thank you for a great review!

I'm not a fan of war stories, but the premise of having two friends fighting against each other might pique my interest. Thanks for the review.

This view of the Civil War from General Hancock's side (the Union) can give readers a broader understanding of what the soldiers were feeling by fighting against their friends and old classmates, as well as what kind of leadership Hancock had with his troops to fight against General Robert Lee. Historical fiction of the Civil War can educate readers with a personal account of what the war was about through the life of Hancock.

Great review gave me insight into what book entails. I appreciate and I respect all that the military did and do now. Although the history could be very interesting and informative it’s not actually a book I would choose unless I was in school and it was a mandated read and discussion.

Considering that this book is military related, I don't think it's for me.

It seems like a interesting book. Both from the military aspects to the emotional ordeal of the characters. I am very interested in seeing how the brutal death of war reflects in the characters. Very great review! I really like the military history of the War Between the States from another angle. Thank you. But then congrats to the author!

I'm fascinated by old time war novels. The conflict. The planning. The heroes who smile in the face of death.. .I would love to read this book. Awesome review. :tiphat: :tiphat: :tiphat:

It sounds like this author is well educated to write a book of this nature. While I do partake of historical fiction now and then, I have to say I have read so many accounts of the civil war that it no longer interests me. It seems for those who like this genre, this one is authentically done with a great storyline. Thanks for more insight about this one.
