“I Am a Soldier, First and Always”: The Distinguished Career of Winfield Scott Hancock by James Harold Kelly seems very impressive. I like novels having action and a good plot. I would like to read it.

Though I'm not a fan of historical books, I like reading books on war. I should give this a try.
Great review!

A fascinating historical fiction book that tells the military and political career of Lieutenant General Winfield Scott Hancock, but the events of his life seem very interesting.

I'm not a fan of historical fiction, and history itself has never been my strong point. Although I was able to note the former closeness of the two men, I was mostly just left confused as to who was fighting on which side, who were the leaders of what side, etc. What you interpreted as action very quickly became for me one mass of confusion. I'll be skipping this one, but thanks for the review!

As good as your review sounds, the title of the book completely throws me off. I
don't think I'll bw reading it.

:no-spoil: I do love reading historical fiction, but quite selective on it. I like action-packed scene, but massive gory scenes are not good for me. Thank you for reminding us about the contents of the book.

This historical fiction story is set during the Civil War. It is an account of the life of Lieutenant General Winfield Scott Hancock. It is the second volume of the story. Congratulations to the author for being chosen as BOTD. Thanks to the reviewer for your excellent review.

Military history is my type of read. The first book I think for boldly pointing how soldiers don't receive enough appreciation. Would love to read more of this book.

From a sampling, this seems like an interesting historical fiction novel set during the US Civil War and concerning the military career of Lt. General Winfield Scott Hancock especially during the Battle of Gettysburg. It might be worth a second look. Well done.

Historical fiction has immense appeal. Yet I tend to skip the gory details of war. I find it very unsettling. Congrats on BOTD.

I was a bit confused with the review that I had to read it the 2nd time to understand the reviewer's perspective. But I get that the book was well-written and would be loved by readers who like stories about war, and its heroes.

Undoubtedly war is such an experience one on his right mind would never pray for. It leaves unforgettable scars on the vanquished not leaving the victor unscarred.

I'm not one who would usually read military based historical fiction novels so I'll probably pass this one on, but with that being said, this book sounds fascinating in it's own way just because I love action packed stories. I would definitely recommend it to those who love this type of books though. Thank you for your review.

The amount of research the author did to produce these volumes is impressive. It reflects a love for our country and a profound respect for those who fought to give us freedom. Thanks for your excellent review and recommendation!
