Historical fiction is not my kind of stuff, but from the review this novel seems a must-read for people who are interested in particular in the Civil War, as it's based on real events.

An action-packed historical fiction book chronicling the life, military and short political career of Lieutenant General sounds interesting. That it has a gripping plot makes it more enjoyable.

Although I like historical fictions, one with the background of the Civil War does not interest me. I would probably skip this book. Thanks for the review though!

I’m not a fan of military historical fiction, but I like the sound of the multi-faceted character of Winfield and the fact the book portrays the consequences of war, instead of it just being a retelling of battle scenes.

I like historical fictions, and one that features prominent historical figures and military exploits sounds like one I can enjoy reading. I'm, therefore, looking forward to reading it. Thank you for this wonderful review!

The story of Lt. Gen Winfield Hancock already paints a picture of him that makes me want to read this book. This one gives me a new appreciation for soldiers and what they do while reminding me that camouflage or not, they are human too.

I am generally not a fan of historical fiction but this book sounds fascinating. The viewpoint of being involved in such a controversial turning point of the United States and the highlights you give puts this #BOTD on my to-read shelf.

Historical fiction has always held a special place in my heart, and the American Civil War is one of my preferred eras of American history to study. The fact that this has been written by someone who is so intimately familiar with the American military and history and that it explores the implications of war, not just recounting battles, are all huge bonuses for me. Thank you for the helpful review.

Sounds like a great book, but I don't care much for war stories, so I'll pass. Thanks for the review.

The consequence and aftermath of war are not always pleasant. I give credit to our soldiers for great work done. This is an awesome storyline. Nice review.
