Do you buy your books used or new?

I buy used books because they are cheaper. I sometimes buy new books too if I cant find old ones or like special books to go into my collection.

Of all the books on my shelf, I know I have purchased less than 10 full price and brand new. It just makes more sense to buy used.

Both. I love books and I don't think that them being used degrades their value in any way.

I usually buy my books used for ecological reasons. My husband has a more specific taste which is not easy to find second hand so he buys new.

Either is okay to me but I prefer new books. I love the smell of new ink and paper in new books.

Yeah. They're economic and cheap but you may find some pages missing.

It does. Some pages may be torn and the writings blurred. Better buy a new book.

Better buy a new book of quality than buy used book with missing and torn pages. That's really an offset.

Old books largely depends on the condition but it's hard to find one in a good condition.

I buy my books both new and used. If I'm traveling and we stop at a bookstore I'll pick up a new book. There is something about that the "New Book Smell" and opening that crisp cover and turning the pages for the first time. It gets me excited to read! However, the majority of my books are used. I am a bit picky with purchasing my used books. I can't have torn or missing pages and absolutely no writing in it. I prefer used books though. The much loved ones have a soul in them which make them that much more special. Once, I bought a used book sight unseen online, I was trying to use up a gift card balance. I got it and this thing was pretty dusty. I quickly fanned through the pages to give it a once over and to my surprised the previous owner had put related topic newspaper clippings in there and loose leaf notes between some of the pages! To this day they are still there, I don't have the heart to throw them away.
