Re: Why do you like reading?

I fell in love with reading at an early age, when I was in speech therapy classes. My own words and thoughts jumbled when I spoke, but by reading I could see and hear the words in my head and began to mimick my favorite authors' voices. Reading made me a more confident speaker while teaching me proper grammar. Punctuation became second nature to me as my subconscious picked up on the typical placement of commas, apostrophes, and such. As others have stated, books are also a place of refuge for me to escape. There are countless places; real and imagined, that you can visit simply by cracking open a book. Each story brings new experiences and new perspectives. I have traveled to exciting places and times without ever getting on a plane or buying a ticket.

I've always liked reading. I would say it's because it makes use of a person's imagination and I have always had a wild imagination. It's fun.

Reading has so many benefits that I couldn't possibly list just one reason that I like to read. However, I can bring it down to two main reasons. The first reason is to learn or have new experiences. The second reason to read, and why I really enjoy reading, is to escape or travel to a new scene. Somedays I need the relaxation of it, some days I need the escapism, some days, I just want an adventure, but no matter what it is a different scene.

I love reading because books take me on adventures that I am truly unable to take at this time in my real life.

The main reason was and is escape but it has become so much more than that. It gives me motivation and inspiration, it lets me recharge, it answers my questions, it questions what I know and it makes me happy to know I am not completely oblivious of the outside world, what I have in my hands is a snippet of their lives and mine is not so different.
Above all, it makes me forget about me and let me experience to be someone else for a while.

I especially like reading books when as a job, such as a book reviewer. Doing so is just like getting paid for attending classes or being paid for a free education. The spare cash comes in handy too.

Reading makes me feel relaxed so I can escape from the day’s hustle. I also have a very active imagination and the reading feeds that, making me explore different possibilities and perspectives. And lastly, the English language is great and I love to see it being used creatively.

I've read for so long that it's difficult to pinpoint the exact reason why I like reading. I feel like that level of abstraction is a basic necessity for me at this point in life. We need fiction to live, and that overused line of "He/She who reads a thousand books lives a thousand lives" is absolutely true.

I love reading because books are the best friends one can ever have. Second, books improve our grammar when frequently read. Third, books are educative and so we learn from reading them. Third books are fun, I read them for fun. Fourth, books are entertaining. I can go on and on nonstop.

I am very visual. When I read the book comes alive more than any movie or TV show ever could. So many people say they enjoy the escape but for me a very well written book doesn't pull me in, it surrounds me. I am transported back in time, or to another planet, or where ever. The story becomes my reality for a few brief hours I am not merely a bystander watching I am an active participant. I learn about human nature, how people think, act and feel through reading. I can learn about the past and dreams of the future. Books are doors to a million different worlds. All one has to do is open them.
