Leadership
By: General Craig Whelden
We Take a look in to the book leadership talking about what David A. Bramlett liked about Whelden’s book. Talking about each chapter and how they are an easy read with real life examples. The book talks about everything between character and determination. Webster defines leadership as the act or an instance of leading. To me the best way to demonstrate leadership is to be able to lead a group of people from many different walks of life. Whelden talks in his prolog in the book because he wants to teach leadership to people who look up to you, I feel that Leadership will inspire people to be their best and give people the ability to believe in themselves.

In this book we will learn to be a leader and be the best we can be. There is a debate whether leadership is to be born with it or is it learned through education, training and experience. I feel it is both you are born a decent person a down to earth person who it kind to others but, also leadership is also taught because taking the experience is something whom can learn from, training is also a good idea to learn how to develop and learn how to become one with the people. Character is the determination you have in life, whelden talks about the most important thing that was a kick start for him to write this book: His Father.

Wheleden’s father went to school and he was a part of a fraternity, as he was walking up the stairs he heard from a room across from him was that the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. Is father wanted to fight for his country because he saw something that he could do to help the people who need it, well he didn’t got he, years later went into the air force to fight for his country. To me that is leadership to show that he would put his life on the line to help others. A positive attitude is something to have to become a leader because you need to be personable to everyone you encounter. Me and Whelden are alkie in a way we both made it to eagle scout, yes we both had to complete 21 merit badges and a community project. The thing is no matter how hard life gets never give up on something you believe in. Leadership is no just something where you just do something and get it.

Leadership is achieving something but if you do not get it being presented another avenue to hop in and Lead. Also leadership in a way is believing in something even if no one else dose, no matter what happens in life even if it means something bad happens to you in the end. I know it may sound silly but building blocks are something you need to strive for what you believe in sometimes it just takes small baby steps before you take big leaps and strides. No matter what path you take to become a leader just remember and thing the people you meet down the road. Leaders need to delicate tasks because you are not a One-man army you have others supporting you, you need to be able to trust others because you won’t be able to do everything by yourself.

Trust is a tricky thing it is easy to gain because you just meet someone and feel you can trust anyone but when you lose that trust it is really hard to gain that trust back, it’s ok step back and take a deep breath and continue. Good leaders pass on what they learn which I highly agree with, you live a life where I feel you own the people in your life the ideas you have learned in life so others can share you story if and when you are no longer here on this earth. On of the most important things to have is pride in one’s work because if you are not proud of what you do than no one else will be. I really enjoyed this book I give it a 4 out of 4 stars. The book was like no other where he author actually brought real life experiences to light, to help and educate and teach others what leadership is all about.
