Use underlining, italics, or quotation marks for titles?

Some grammar rules (and embarrassing mistakes!) transcend the uniqueness of different regions and style guides. This new International Grammar section by OnlineBookClub.org ultimately identifies those rules thus providing a simple, flexible rule-set, respecting the differences between regions and style guides. You can feel free to ask general questions about spelling and grammar. You can also provide example sentences for other members to proofread and inform you of any grammar mistakes.

It would be useful to add that series, cycles, and trilogy titles should be in italics, too. Not all House Styles demand it. For example, Marion Zimmer Bradley's Mists of Avalon is a standalone novel but it is a volume in a series of books referred to as the Avalon cycle.

I wanted to add that I always use quotes when identifying titles. Is it fine?
I thought you were a rule maker?! What's this? ;)

songs are considered a smaller part of an album (or whatever they call it nowadays) so it falls into the same rule

I am very excited about being a book reviewer. I wish to do the book reviews according to the proper format. I have posted numerous questions about the bold/italics question. So far I haven't received any answers on this forum. I have spent an hour trying to find someone I could email about this issue with no luck. I have 4 more days before my next review is due. I am ready to submit it now but I dont want to do that if I can't follow the proper format. Any help would be greatly appreciated tia

The first post clearly explains what to do, and you can practice here. You can also google it for more info.

You should add the BB codes manually as in the examples below. I put it in code so you will see it.

Code: Select all

Bold

Code: Select all

italics
