Official Review: Marco Martinez by R M Allan
I started getting excited about the book from the beginning when the author described himself as “the odd one of the bunches.” It made me feel like the author was relatable as many readers find their creative sparks from odd storylines. With this, I knew that the story would be an interesting one. This book, Marco Martinez, by R.M. Allan is a book about a bounty hunter named Marco Martinez and how he accomplished his missions. He is a man of little patience. His personality makes people shiver, but he is also a man with a hole in his heart. Will his conquests fill that hole?
This book introduces Marco as a unique character. He is good at what he does and has a wall around himself to keep people out of his life. He had faced some challenges from his past, and he is struggling to resolve them. The author describes him as a well-built man with dark eyes and has no fear for anyone. Given the events that happened on April 17, 1867, he was a determined man. Each chapter tells of Marco’s missions and victories. Also, the author gave insight into Marco’s life within each story. Furthermore, the kind of person he is under all the layers of disguise gets unveiled one after the other.
I admired his sense of humor in Chapter 3 during his conversation with Andrew, and from all the stories he narrated at the bar. One can tell he is a man proud of all his conquests. What caught my attention at the end of his story was the question Andrew asked him, “Do you feel fulfilled?” Although he did not give a definite answer, he was not upset.
I enjoyed how the author penned-down all the stories. Marco sometimes seems like a man without a heart, but I liked his philosophies. I agree with some of his ideas like some things should be overlooked and stay forgotten for one to have a happy life.
Concerning the character development, the author provided enough information about the major and minor characters. Marco could engage in a conversation with his horse. He employed that as a medium for him to express himself and let his frustrations out. Also, the preview of the second book was a pleasant surprise.
There is nothing I dislike about this book. The characters are amazing, and I was able to relate to them. Therefore, I rate Marco Martinez 4 out of 4 stars. I noticed minor grammatical and punctuation errors, which did not distract my reading experience. So, the book is well-written. I would recommend this book to adults and young readers who want to relax with an action-packed novel that has no gory scenes.
