The Homecoming-The Unari Experiment by Brian Hadar is a fast paced story. It starts with the U.S. President Harry Drummond who has made some bad decisions in his first three years as president. He doesn't want to go out a loser so when an opportunity emerges, he takes it. Drummond is contacted by two alien races, the Thunarians and the Unarians. Both races have been to Earth before. On a previous trip, Queen Jata of the Unarians left behind one of her twin fetuses to be cared for by a human family, since there was a serious threat on her planet. She came back to Earth to retrieve her son who is now Bryon Hollington, a 55 year old husband of three children. His DNA had been changed to make him look human. It will be changed back once he is taken off planet Earth. He also has no idea that he is not human. In return for the raising and security of her son, Queen Jata will trade 'energy crystals' to the United States. It is a clean and limitless power source which will make fossil fuels obsolete.

Bryon is abducted and put to sleep, then awakens on a spacecraft. His DNA has been changed back and he is now a creature resembling a mythical horse with wings and a horn. Bryon (now Thundercloud), despairs and becomes depressed. His 'powers' (telepathy, telekinesis and flying) are not active after being changed and in his helplessness, alienates those around him. Upon landing on his home planet Unari, he is again abducted, beaten and abused by those who were there to protect him.

Some small errors were spotted while reading this book. Page 33, paragraph starting with “General Manchester spoke up.” The next sentence, “Mr. President, I know who he person is.” Should be something like, “...I know who this person is.” Page 51, paragraph starting, “Sorry Harry...” The sentence starting, “This guy is going to be confused as hell it is.” Should be something like, “This guy is going to be confused as hell as it is.” There is some profanity throughout the book. It started on page 16, “Dammit, he knows I hate surprises.” It did not detract from the book, but made it more realistic for the reader.

I enjoyed the books' fast pace and there was never a dull moment. Brian Hadar was able to explain cleanly the origins of the various species, their differences and similarities. I did not have any dislikes for this book.

I give this book a 4 out of 4 rating. It was such a great read; I downloaded the second book and have finished reading that one also. Can't wait for the third book to come out!

Great review. This book was an odd one but a good one.
