Peter Hadrian, a street cop in Dallas, is bothered by memories of his missing son and murdered wife when he receives a duty call to help a fellow officer. Upon arrival at the scene, he engages in a deadly fight with the attacker who seemingly has abnormal strength-a vampire. He ends up badly injured and bitten, and while being rushed to the hospital, they are diverted to a secret facility at Fort, Hood. He, and his friend Luke McElroy, who had come to his aid, later learn that it was owned by an Apocalypse Suppression Administration (ASA), a clandestine government organization.

Peter is genetically modified to possess vampire characteristics such as increased strength and night vision. "Peter, you now possess all vampiric attributes except for their extended life span". While at the facility, they learn that vampires are real, and that they were being prepared for a mission to eliminate the threat of vampirim in the modern world by traveling back in time to Medieval Romania in the 15th century, where vampirism is believed to originate. The mission is finally a success.

I love most that the historical aspects in Christopher J. Penington's, The Hand Bringer, reveal that a lot of research on ancient Romanian history, was carried out. This offers a learning opportunity, particularly for the audience with a love for history. The book is also packed with various action scenes making it very entertaining and engaging. I, also applaud Christopher, for fully developing his characters. For instance, Boriana. From the beginning, she appears as a mysterious character whose role is not clear but in the end, all my questions about her are answered as her critical role in the book slowly unfolds.

On the negative side, I feel that Dracula, as a character should have been given more emphasis. My few encounters with him while reading, failed to fulfill my expectations for his role in the book, given the introduction he was given. I would have loved it if the author gave his readers more interaction with him since the whole issue of vampirism in the book revolves around him.

Except for a few misused words, the book was professionally edited. I, therefore, give it a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend this book to adult lovers of fiction, historical, scientific, and action books. It may not be a good fit for minors because of the erotic content it has.

I liked Peter’s character. The stories about vampires and time travel were good too. Nice review!
