I am always happy to read about stories that feature people in the LGBT community. I also love the cover art and how it perfectly captures the author's turmoil with accepting who is. The variety of topics featured in the stories provides a wide range of discussion and reflection for all readers. I can't wait to read about more books from this author.

From my observation of the comments I could say this book would educate people in search for acceptance, sexuality, rejection and so on. But it is not my genre. Congrats on BOTD

All of the themes the author touches on are so important, but I am especially glad for mental health, depression, rejection, and fear! As a retired nurse, I am aware of the lack of understanding in the Health Care field about depression and any type of mental illness. It is sad that so many people struggle with these issues and feel they have to keep it to themselves for lack of empathy! Thank you for the excellent review!

Thanks for the review! I’m not sure I would have been interested in the book if I hadn’t read the review. I’m intrigued by the formatting of the story.

Nice review. You have covered many aspects of the book, and what makes it unique and different. Since it contains prodanity, references to suicide and sexuality it is probably not for me. However, I enjoyed reading your thorough review. Many thanks.

I wonder how a son will remain insensitive to his terminally ill parent.

Perhaps,he was going through deeper stuffs like his sexuality and generally finding his identity, hence the distraction.

This will be a good read for very sensitive people.

Thanks for a heartfelt review.

Mental health, acceptance, sexuality, depression, rejection etc are among the major life challenges in the modern day. In sharing these stories in specific ways, even fictionaly, is a step towards conquering them. This is a captivating review that surely makes the book worth reading.

This is a terrific review. I'm mostly glad to know that Beneath the Surface is not about someone who is drowning (which is what the cover seems to convey).

On another note, I think we all worry about being "different" and not fitting in. Connor seems to be worried about being gay (or at least thinking he is) which definitely doesn't fit the "norm" but, hopefully, he figures out how to deal with this "difference".

Since the sample was only the introduction, I definitely plan to read the rest and find out more.

Based on the review and the 4 out of 4 stars rating, this book sounds interesting. The sensitive topics based on the author's life will help others understand the doubts and insecurities other young people endure to understand who they are. Although I typically stay away from books with profanity, I believe this book would be intriguing to read. Thank you for the excellent review.
