I am not really a fan of historical war fiction, but I appreciate a well-researched book and it seems that the author took the time to interview and collect data from the people of Putten. Thank you for your engaging review.

Very nice review. The story of the Dutch resistance to Hitler isn't prominent in history class in school. But it sounds fascinating. When I have visited Germany, the German people were so kind and so welcoming it is hard to believe they were capable of such atrocities! Sounds like a good book.

The Weeping Woman of Putten, a book about the Nazi war crime against the town of Putten, Netherlands sounds like an amazing historical fiction. The fact that it's based on true events gives the urge to read it sooner. I will definitely add it to my to read list. Congratulations to the author on the BOTD. Great review.
Books are beautiful.

There's such a power to the addition of the photos as visual impact. These stories are never easy to tell, but they must be written. Your review really sold this book to me, as a lover of historical fiction and someone who cherishes the preservation of historical narratives.

I do agree with you on searching for characters who are strong yet less invincible.

The novel portrays a meaningful and interesting point of view from WWII. Not very often is the point of view from the Netherlands explained and it adds a new dynamic to the well-known history of the war. It sounds like a great read and thanks for the meaningful review!

I am a huge fan of historical fiction and, due to the nature of war, its hard to find a novel in this genre that's "clean". I understand what you mean when you say Janneke seemed to be too perfect, it makes characters hard to relate to.
Thank you for an amazing review!

I enjoyed the review, and have read numerous books recounting the activities of the Resistance during the Second World War. From what you've written, and from the bits and pieces of the book that I've read, I may have to put this one on my reading list.

I have read about many of the horrible events that took place during the occupation of the Netherlands, but I haven't heard the story about the city of Putten. I might have to check this one out.

War history, women and an intriguing title is a a good combination. From the sample and the review it is clear that the author did proper research and understand the subject. Well done!

I have always heard about the Nazi's from Hitler's story but never heard it to this extent. What a great book of history and it's such an honor it was written an author closer to the then said generation of Nazi people.
Congrats on making BOTD.

I love reading historical fiction novels. The book's title as well as its cover are amazing. The themes of War, forced labour, and oppression are evident in the book. This is a must read book.

This one sounds intriguing because it has been based on past events, and it will be interesting to see how the story is told from the Dutch perspective. Thanks for the review!
