The book Homecoming by Author Jude Austin explores the process of caring for something or someone and how its effects can change their future. As this is the second book in the Authors Project series, it continues the story of Kata and Tau as they traverse the worlds to escape recapture and find a new life of freedom. In their travels they meet all sorts of characters, both good and bad, who cause them to confront their innermost churning thoughts and worries. After becoming separated from each other, they both struggle with these inner dragons, even as things seem to get worse. Before they come back together they each encounter someone who has a caring spirit and who tries to help them. As difficult as this is for Kata and Tau they slowly learn to trust a little and in the process, form new bonds with others. As the story reaches its apex the fate of Kata and Tau is put to the test. Bringing to bare the painful past they come face to face with their enemies as the future looms, its glimmer to become a possible bright new world all of its own.

Some of the things I liked most about the book was how in-depth the descriptions were of the strange worlds and various creatures of the story. They were so well detailed you could almost visually experience them yourself. Because of this, the landscape and its inhabitance became a richer tapestry for the reader. Also, I felt the Author did a great job writing about Tau's encounters with new things. For example, her exquisite description of grass and Tau's fear upon seeing it for the first time. You could feel his tension and curiosity. It made you both smile and sigh with relief as he finally crossed it. A simple thing became a special moment. The story was full of such moments.

There wasn't too much I disliked about the book. The only thing coming to mind would be that the progress of Tau and Kata's friendship doesn't go where I thought it would, and the final outcome was slightly disappointing. It actually didn't seem to be fully ended, leaving some unspoken questions hanging unresolved. But that might be what the Author wanted. As I keep musing about this, I just hope she will write a "Tau's World book 3" ha, ha!

All I can say is her created saga, in both her Project Books, is extremely intriguing and holds the reader enchanted to the very end. Very well done, science fiction with a touch of the magical. Therefore I gave this book a 4 out of 4 stars. The writing was very well done with vivid detail and colorful characters. As the story itself was full of wit and suspense, I found myself in that readers state of continuing to read chapter after chapter in order to just find out what happens next.

I think most people would enjoy this book, although it wouldn't be appropriate for the very young because curse words are prevalent. It would of course, appeal greatly to the sci-fi crowd and those who enjoy fantasy fiction as it has elements of both. Overall it is a splendid book which I highly recommend to others
