"The Midas subject can do anything they can possibly imagine, but they can’t destroy their own ability." - Midas Effect by Manuel Dorado

Miguel Le Fablec has the ability to make anything he wants to imagine into a reality. With power such as this, it is impossible not to be noticed by the NASA and the CIA. But with great power comes great responsibilities. Overwhelmed by the power he possessed, Miguel had done something terrible. Wished that his power should cease to exist, but only to find out that his ability cannot be undone. Miguel delves deep down at the conspiracies, intrigues, and events that surround him. With many lives at risk, can he save them all?

The author, Manuel Dorado, is an aerospace engineer and a writer. I think that's why the story is overall related to his profession. Originally a Spanish novel, Midas Effect is a sci-fi mixed with thriller, action, fantasy, and romance all the way. It is a surprise for me to find out that this is his first novel. Being a first novel must provide great potential and indeed the Midas Effect exceeds my expectations. No wonder that this novel had an English edition and more - it receives a lot of great reviews and awards.

The novel is from a third-person point of view, enabling the readers to have a chance at the mind of each character. Also, the novel provides great character development and a great flow of the story. Compared to other stories, I believe this would really get you hooked from the beginning to the end. Although numerous scientific terms can be found within the texts, it is still understandable and explained along the way.

While reading, I love how the author makes the story be able to visualize like how you would see in the movies. I think this novel would make a great movie. In addition, I also love how real the characters are. They portray real feelings and almost like I am with them. And the novel not only sustained the plot but also it takes turns and twists that leave me gripping and excited about what would happen next. I really am shocked by the plot-twist I have encountered, and I really did not see that coming. I absolutely recommend this book.

If you enjoy sci-fi, then I believe it's best you read it and if you worry that there would be too much scientific thingy then don't worry. It'll be explained and well you should give it a try. Lastly, the book contains a few profanities and there are some erotic scenes so this is not intended for children and young adults. Also, religion will be discussed because the character has abilities like a God and with that, religion and science collides so read at your own risk. Overall, I rate this book 4 out of 4.
