MOVIE REMAKES- Best and Worst?

We’ve all seen it time and time again. Remakes on classics. Remakes on remakes.

What were your favorite & least favorite remakes?

My FAVORITE has to be the Grinch! The Jim Carey version brought the concept to a whole new level.

My least favorite was Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. I didn’t care for the remake. It just didn’t have the same charm as the Gene Wilder version.

The best remake for me was [/i]Superman returns[/i]. Portraying superman as a parent added a realistic touch to the plot, but the remake of The Promise was not as captivating as the original. The original had mob feeling and tension and had my attention tied to it wholesomely. The remake, though not as good, I loved it due to the new faces I saw who portrayed that they are also talented, choices of location and was more advanced so as to thrill the new audience.

My favourite remake is Beauty and the Beast, I felt it added to the original. The worst would have to be Death Wish, while I usually like Bruce Willis as an actor, the movie didn’t portray the grief of the original which changed the whole thing for me.

The best remakes I watched are The Fly and The Thing because they're reinterpretations of the origina movies made by great directors. The worst remakes i watch are Total Recall and The Day the Earth Stood Still because they left out the best parts of the originals turning into soulless movies with confused stories.

I was just gonna comment about how I weirdly prefer the Tim Burton version of Charlie and the chocolate factory. I know I'm in the minority here and maybe my love for it comes from the fact I got to watch it as a kid. While I feel like the factory in Gene Wilder's version is the most imaginative, I feel like when contrasted with the world outside, the Tim Burton feels more wonder-inducing (if that makes sense).

Yes, I get your point of view. Tim Burton is a genius...in my opinion... but I just cant wrap my head around that movie for some reason!

I hate that Disney seems to be remaking every single movie they can. Honestly, I don't think a remake is worth it unless they put their own spin on it. That's why I liked the Little Women remake so much.

Ugh one of the worst I've seen is the Percy Jackson movies! They barely follow the plotline, flatten the most amazing character (Annabeth), and cast actors that were wayyyyyy to old.

So they did a live action remake of Avatar the Last Airbender, and that has to be by far the worst remake I have ever seen. Well, that and the Percy Jackson movies. But I don't know if they count as remakes, rather than just film adaptations. I'm drawing a blank on a good remake though. As far as book movies go, Harry Potter and The Hunger Games were both good. Along with The Giver and The Host.

Lord of the Rings is undoubtedly the best; the worst, I need a very large book. It's really sad. Movies are really bad these days

Regarding Disney, Beauty and the Beast was the best remake. Everything they added into that movie fit so well into the original storyline. The worst was probably The Lion King. It just didn’t have any of the charm that the original had.
