I like to read because it quiets my mind. I worked in a high stress job for 25 years and I would come home and the only thing that could calm my nerves was opening a book. I can get so involved in the story that everything else just melted away. I agree with everyone else who said it is an escape from reality or a way to experience things that I could never do, but for me it’s more about the calming effect reading has on my mind.

I love exploring new worlds, escaping reality and delving into the lives and stories of more adventurous characters. I love where I am at in life but I certainly not adventurous by any means. When reading I can imagine that I am the characters in the books and living in their exciting world.

:techie-studyingbrown: I love to read because it provides a means of obtaining knowledge and it also expands one's vocabulary. It is said that a picture tells 1,000 words. Therefore if one has 1,500 words in one's vocabulary, that is only one picture and a half of information.

:no-spoil: I love to read because reading makes one informed. The more informed one is, the more educated one becomes. Education is the ability of one to make sense of one's environment. Therefore the more one reads, the more sensible one becomes.

I love to read because it is a source of entertainment and enlightenment. Instead of sitting infront of a television screen, one can become immersed in the pages of a good book, like the Bible for instance. There is never a dull moment!
