Review by Fahad Baibras -- The Hand Bringer
Peter Hadrian is a cop who has just lost his wife. He is unaware of the whereabouts of his only son. While on duty he sustains severe injuries against a mysterious killer. This killer has killed two of his fellow cops. His rescue is intervened by military helicopter and he, along with his fellow cop Luke, is taken to an unknown destination. It is later revealed that the organization that took them was not military. This organization was not fighting against usual anti-state organizations but rather vampires. He agrees on going back to the 15th century to kill Vlad Dracula, and nip the evil of vampires in the bud, on a condition that he will have the opportunity to get his son back. In his journey he is accompanied by his buddy Luke, an ex-con by the name of Bat, a Marine colonel, and Doctor Kolemis. Is ending vampires the only agenda behind this time travel?
Nothing less can you expect from a novel inspired by the movies of Dracula and Vampires. Touch of medieval history, the crusade against ruthless Ottomans, and love for a future vampire was the icing on the cake. Christopher J Pennington, the author of The Hand Bringer did an amazing job and his research and hard work of a decade resulted in a captivating romantic vampire action novel.
I know that you have to represent your enemies as an evil character but I think that the author went too far in the case of Turks. I did not like the idea of presenting Pasha as someone who slept with men, even though Pasha Hussad was depicted as a brave soldier of good morals and virtue. Apart from that the novel was an absolute entertainment with the right amount of action, science, history, and romance.
The best thing about the book was its non-stop action. But the author did a great job of keeping a balance between action and romance so the reader never gets bored. Another notable aspect of the book was how Peter and his companions make their way from prison to leading the united armies of Turks and Romanians against the vampires. The comradeship that peter and his friends build with their 15th-century friends is heartwarming. The romance between Peter and Boriana is pure and something special. Afterall love is the driving force of all the events of this novel.
If you like stories of vampires and romance then this book is a must-read for you. I did not find any grammar mistakes apart from a couple of spelling mistakes and printing was of good quality. I rate this book four out of four stars. The book contains a few kissing scenes but no erotic content. But I warn the faint of hearts before they read the book that it contains a very graphic description of killing and tearing the bodies and tons of bloodshed. So read it at your own risk. But if you are okay with that then you are good to go.
