Review by MeganDJ -- Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Sno...
Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat by R.F. Kristi is a children’s short story book that involves the detective prowess and mystery-solving skills of Inca and her detective agency. Serendipity Mystery is the 7th instalment of the Diary of a Snoopy Cat series and is recommended for kids between the ages of 7 to 12 years old.
In this book, Inca and her family travel to an island off the coast of Sri Lanka for a holiday retreat. While staying at their lovely cottage, Inca and her siblings' frolic on the beaches, make local friends and try their best to relax and enjoy the surrounding culture. After a few days of relaxing, Inca’s Mom receives a call from her friend and detective Solo, who has recently discovered that an antique sword and golden coins were stolen from a museum in Sri Lanka. Once he arrives on the scene, Inca and her agency do a little digging of their own. Will they discover who stole the antique sword and be able to return the stolen goods to the museum before they have to return home?
What I enjoyed the most about this book were the beautifully illustrated characters and their adorable personalities. Although they weren’t well developed, each one of them had unique and complementary characteristics that set them apart from one another. Additionally, the book touches on important aspects of teamwork, problem-solving and the importance of family that any parent would appreciate.
Although it is the 7th instalment of the series, I had no problem picking it up as an independent book. I loved how the author incorporated real-life places and history into her tale so that kids could learn a thing or two while listening to a thrilling and adventurous story. I also appreciated that the author included unique animals and interesting facts about them, showing that although they may be different, they could still work together in peace and harmony. There was nothing that I disliked about the book.
I give this book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. The language and writing style is appropriate for the target audience. The book was exceptionally well-edited as I only found one error. Additionally, I found no profanity or graphic details that would be offensive to the target audience. I would highly recommend this book to any kids or pre-teens that love a good mystery adventure book involving animals.

I can completely agree with that! Having the ability to pick up and read regardless of it being in a series or not is definitely a plus for me. Being properly formated and professionally edited is critical for young minds as well
