The Dragon Squad of Aurora Mountain by Rockthaniel Hayden is a children’s book about a group of animals that have an unforgettable adventure in Aurora Mountain. The writer focuses on themes such as inclusiveness, diversity, unity, and love in his story. He uses simple and easy-to-understand language to create a casual atmosphere in the novel.

The writer begins by introducing the five protagonists in the story. These protagonists are five animals, namely Jeff the giraffe, Roy the ferret, Chess the mustang, Alli the alligator, and Marie the dog. These animals gather into a group and go for an adventure in Aurora Mountain. There, they meet a young antelope named Poppy, who is crying because he has lost his way home after being chased by a lion.

There were many things I enjoyed in this story. Firstly, the story was chronologically, rationally, and coherently structured, allowing the reader to comprehend the events unfolding in the novel. Also, the language used was simple, which helps young children to understand the novel easily. Additionally, the book was professionally edited, as I only noticed a single error in this story. What I liked most about this book were the vivid, realistic illustrations, which captured my attention.

What I disliked most about this novel was that it was unoriginal and cliché. Therefore, to improve, the author should be more creative to make a story that is more unique and different from other children’s books.

This book will be enjoyed most by children in elementary school who like novels related to animals. This book has plenty of action and suspense, so readers who appreciate adventure stories will appreciate this book more. Readers of all religions, including non-religion, can enjoy this book.

In conclusion, I rate this book with 3 out of 4 stars. It did not deserve a higher rating because it was unoriginal. However, a lower rating would have been unjust, as this novel is exceptionally edited, logically structured, beautifully illustrated.

That’s unfortunate that it’s unoriginal, but I’m glad that it was still well-done. I love the themes, and it sounds like the author did a really competent job of thinking about his reader and structuring the book to fit their level. Great review!
