The Torch of Hope and Inspirations by Annalyn Rasul is a collection of poems and inspirational quotes.

The author divided this book into two parts. The first part includes poems that speak on the topics of love, hurt, family, infertility, betrayal, faith, hope, and forgiveness. It is evident that all emotions that the author conveys are genuine and come from personal experiences. In the second part, Rasul shares her favorite motivational quotes from the greatest minds, both dead and alive.

I enjoyed reading this book very much. The author's intentions and the message come from the place of forgiveness and moving on with your life. Overall, it is a very positive and uplifting book that is very easy to read. Poetry appears as a method of healing. That was my favorite part of this book. Some poems were very heartbreaking and emotional to read. Especially the poem "Barren Soil", in which the author addresses the topics of betrayal, and infertility. I found that poem very raw and devastating. It seems that the best poetry comes to life from emotional turbulence. I loved the artwork that came with the poems. It was a beautiful addition to the book.

The only thing I dislike about this book is that the second part, with the quotes, outweighs the first part. I wish that the emphasis of this book was more on poetry. Almost every reader has his collection of favorite quotes so that part and on such scale was redundant for me. It takes away from the originality of the book.

I didn't find any grammatical errors. The editing of this book is excellent. As I already mentioned, I wish that there was more substance to it. It would be more satisfying that the part with poems was longer than the part with quotes. Maybe the author will have more confidence to do so with her future work. As that is my subjective issue, I will rate this book a perfect score, with four out of four stars.

I would recommend this book to all poetry readers, but also readers seeking emotional, hard-hitting, or inspirational books. It is apparent that the author comes from a place of religion in her inspiration and guidance, but regardless of that fact, I think every reader is suitable to read this book. Finally, the premise of forgiveness and living life to its fullest should encourage every reader to give this book a chance.

Poetry has always been a subtle way of expressing words and emotions when plain text fail and this book surely did over flog that. Your review sure did a great explanation on what to expect reading this book both the motivational and pure poem sections/part. Great job.
