ereader is the future. 70% of books will be read through ereaders within 5-7 years

Just like Subscription music (Spotify/Rhapsody/Deezer etc...) is the future of music consumption.

I believe it is definitely worth it! At first, I was totally against it, but it is nice to have books on the portable format. It will probably get more worthwhile when they have more eLibraries, saving you time and money on getting books. I haven't been using it as much as I should be, because I prefer taking books out of the library or borrow them from a friend, rather than spending money, but the ebook publishers have plenty of free and cheap books that make it worth your money! I have read a few stunning books that didn't cost me a penny, which, in my opinion, beats getting a $30 hardcover any day! So, it saves space and money, and though it doesn't have the same feel as a book, the pros outweigh the cons!

Welcome! I am a total convert to ebooks. For me the best thing is instant gratification. I have a book in seconds..right on my kindle...or a sample immediately. I got over all my qualms and actually prefer the e reader to a book.
All the books I have read on my book blog I've accessed on my kindle...
Hope you enjoy this forum..check out my blog when you get a chance. The address is below.

I don't have a Kindle, but i've downloaded the Kindle for PC app. I find it easy to keep the page Im' reading, or to know the meaning of words (when I read in english - I'm French) but in my opinion... nothing compares to a real book on the shelf ;) so both are nice !

One doesn't replace the other..but I read everything on my kindle or Ipad..I sometimes read three or four books at a time so it is really less cumbersome than carrying around the books.. I write a blog about books so it just makes life easier.
As far as "on a shelf"...nothing beats a book!!

I love my ereaders. Yes plural. I bought a Kindle and fell in love. When the Kindle Fire came out I had to have that too. I use my Kindle outside, and the Kindle Fire I use for emailing, facebook, twitter, and reading in the dark. It's perfect and I love it .

Yes, I think they're worth it very much.

It will just be an adjustment to ebooks, but once you do, it almost seems weird to pick up a paperback.

Definitely worth getting is you have not already.

There is a different feel to it than a book. but easier to hold then some of the bigger hard covers. and even better for travelling. carry 10, 20 or more books with you on a long vacation and never worry about having nothing to read.

I just posted on the thread about not liking or wanting an e-reader, but after reading through this thread, I am reconsidering. The headache issue was one for me, as I find that from reading on my computer for any length of time, so I was swayed by the fact that this would not be a problem. I am also at the age where I need reading classes and so enlarging the font would be a bonus to me. I live in a small city and so often I have to order books on-line and wait for them to come...another plus for the e-reader.

Now my question is...which one is the best one to get?

There is a huge amount of discussion of e-readers on the site with specific discussions on the Kindle and on the Nook ... so you should find lots to think about .... or confuse you further. :)
Personally I have a Kindle for nearly two years and I love it. From my point of view the best features are the ease of transporting books, the ease of downloading books (although that can be too easy!), and especially the ability to increase the font size & I love that it's so easy to look up a new word and to add bookmarks or notes.
That said I still go to the library and I still buy paperbacks both new & secondhand.

Yes, I've started reading through some of it. I have only ever seen one up close, my brother-in-laws, but I'm not sure what it was. I'll maybe go shopping and have a look at them.

Sorry to jump in but I live in Australia (not sure if that makes a difference) and would like to get one but with all the great offers/options out there for ebooks which would be the best one that does not tie me to one source (Amazon - Kindle for example) thanks
