Fred G. Baker must've done a really great job that he was able to make you feel as if you were part of the expedition. I am in awe with that kind of writing style. Thank you for this comprehensive review and yes, I'd love to know if Grant eventually finds his uncle, dead or alive. I will check this book out.

This sounds like an action-packed book with a strong focus on character development. I am interested to learn more details surrounding the expedition. The alchohol consumption and violence could deter some readers, though--but I am looking forward to reading it. Thanks for the wonderful review.

I like your review. I havent read a novel with this kind of plot and where it uses Russia as the place of the story. Also, the way you describe Grant, he looks like he has never found true love yet and he's enjoying sexual activity with just anyone. I personally dont like that type of protagonist.

I'll be reading this shortly. I enjoy a good book about expeditions into a hidden land, such as "Lost Horizon" or "Journey to the Center of the Earth." And any book that kicks off with a series of maps before the words begin to flow, always makes me want to jump right on in!

I am really keen on this! I do not know why, but 'things that happen in Russia' always had a pull on me As well as, as you say in your review:

Sounds like a cool (no pun intended) adventure story. I've been reading a lot of non-fiction/Thriller books but this sounds interesting and realistic enough to cause me to switch things up a bit.
