Strong Heart is indeed about mystery, adventure, and ancient history, but also about family and discovering who we really are. Sarah becomes an orphan at the age of 6 after her mother's death, but lives with her stepfather until a summer that results in Sarah being dropped at the door of her grandfather because of being a problematic child to everyone, including her maternal grandmother.

At the grandfather’s house, a group of people are preparing for a camping trip to a park that could possibly be used for mining if they delay so Sarah's visit could not have arrived at a worse time. With nobody to watch over her, the group takes her along. The journey to Bob-Bob's grave is one filled with longing as Tom reminisces about a time like the one, he had with his grandfather. Storytelling brings the company of four together and helps them understand the purpose of the trip.

A quarrel between Sarah and Tom leads her to an 8-day adventure to a different realm that seems to disturb the group even after they return home. The realm reveals things that even a genetic scientist finds hard to believe but still agrees to join the group to retrieve something left behind. Many challenges arise when they go for the second time and it is up to a resilient Sarah to get them out.

It was an outstanding book that was written incredibly well. I enjoyed the storytelling within the story. "Myra, we think we brought Sarah on this trip, but maybe it is she, who is taking us." I like how at the time those words were uttered; the game changed. We always associate age with wisdom, but it was then where the elders knew that they had to rely on the wisdom of a child to get them to the place they thought was a dream.

I give this book an outstanding 4 out of 4 stars. It was like I was part of the experience and I could almost imagine just how everyone felt. The way Charlie Sheldon wrote this book made it feel believable, yet magical and all the events gelled well together. There is absolutely nothing I did not like about this book and I would recommend to people who love reading about myths, adventure, and survival. Strong Heart is a book I think all age groups should try reading. A book that can be appreciated by everyone is what Sheldon has produced.
