Excellent review! You made me curious about this book! I want to see if Declan can protect his cousin, Rachel! As a 'child of the 1960s and 1970s I certainly remember the Vietnam veterans from our little town in Ohio! I had 4 family members serve in Vietnam. I hope Declan finds a solution to thoughts that plague him, but I also hope he does what's right. I am adding this book to my want to read shelf.

I suspect that as as ex-combat soldier myself, this book may be very appealing. Many of my comrades in arms, as well as myself, were able to pursue careers in a military where our problems were accepted and where we received treatment when required. We were also understood and accepted within our environment. Unfortunately, this was not the case with many servicemen who returned home after service in combat. Like American soldiers, the political realities have also made all of our lives unpleasant. That is the story in this book, only in a different setting. All the drugs, criminality, and family relationships are the same, and I will be interested to read the authors interpretation of this. Your review was vibrant and very enjoyable to read.

I did not expect this type of book from the title. This whole narrative on drug dealing and trying to escape that life is so intriguing to me. I never seek out these types of books, but this one caught my eye. I may have to add this book to my list. Thank you for this revealing, insightful review.

I think war veterans mental health is a topic that should be given more attention. I'm glad the author captures it in his book. Thanks for a great review

"Juicy Fruit" sends towards something nice and enjoyable, only this time it is marijuana, perhaps even more so.
The book seems worth reading, especially after the highlights you mentioned in the review.
And I am most interested in the bonus of American scenery and landscape and in the style and language used to create very credible characters.
A thorough review, thank you!

Between the real-life themes of PTSD and the struggles of coming back from war, and the novel's content of action, suspense, and realism, this seems like a slam dunk all around!

A book that pulls you in from the start. It sounds amazing and super interesting. The emotional conflict within Declan is at the forefront of the story, which adds value to it.

A Vietnam veteran, who after smuggling Thai marijuana sticks, also known as Juicy Fruit, tries to lead a quiet life, but has to fight the torment of bringing the war home. It sounds interesting.

This book is a thriller that seems to have an interesting twist. I don't usually read thrillers, but I'm curious about how the protagonist ultimately deals with his inner demons. Awesome review!

I have to wonder if Declan's nomadic tendencies are really a matter of personal preference or if that is just what he tells himself.

I'm generally not a fan of war stories, so I am going to pass on this one.
