I can't help but wonder about this book after reading the review. I guess most of the people today has only a vague knowledge about what happened to the Jewish people during WWII and my inquisitive mind was surely piqued after reading this.

To me, books with about the Nazi is always depressing. But it seems that the characters in this book is relatable and interesting enough to draw any reader into reading it.

From a sampling, this seems like an interesting historical fiction set in Poland during the German occupation and follows Harran, an aging entomologist, and how he taught people including his granddaughters some skills so that they would survive. It might be worth a second look. Well done.

This review has me very intrigued into the life of the Jews that were effected by nazism. I am anxious to get to know the characters and to see how their strength and tenacity bought them through the horrors they must've faced.

One of those great books about nazi brutalism illustrated in a new perspective, polish one. I enjoyed reading it with it's use of simple words and clear depictions.

The main purpose that wants me to add this book to my list of my collection is why Grand pappy Harran chose Brygida over Mysz even though they're twin sisters. Nasizm cruelty over the Jews is really disheartening and can trigger deep emotions in the reader.

I like reading historical fiction. And that too, this book is a world war fiction. From the review, I get that it is a character-driven historical fiction which is yet another reason to make me pick this book up. Congrats on BOTD!

I usually don't read historical fiction stories, but the Nazi regimen stories are hard to ignore, especially when a grandpa does his best to prepare his granddaughters for what's coming, which we know it's inevitable.

While I understand that such books must be written, I am just no good at ingesting man's inhumanity to man. I was heart-broken by chapter two. I'll pass on this one.

The story unfolds as we course through the chapters from a creepy beginning to a cruel encounter between the Germans and the Jews.The torture suffered under the Naxists is truly appalling.

Your review is very inviting

. The book does cover an aspect in history that cannot be ignored. In the first chapters, where a German General kills newly born twins sent shivers down my spine. Antisemitism was horrific.

Sounds like a well-written book but I'm not a fan of historical fiction and I generally don't like to read books with vivid descriptions of torture so for those reasons I don't think I'll be reading it. That being said, I do know others who would greatly enjoy this book so I will pass on my recommendations to them. Thanks for an amazing review!

This historical fictional novel tells of the Jews struggling to survive during the German invasion of Poland. It accurately shows the cruelty of the Germans and the horrors of the concentration camps. Congratulations to the author for being chosen as BOTD. Thanks to the reviewer for your excellent review.

Historical fiction with a bit of different story line. There are hundreds of books written about cruelties of Germans during the World War II. This one also falls into one of those. However, I am eager to read this book as it gives a different view point and how was the life on another part of the Europe which was under Nazi occupation. I enjoyed your wonderful review!
