It is quite discouraging for such a promising book to be filled with errors.

Thanks JuliaKay, for a great review making such a complex looking novel simple. I guess though the story seems a suspense and mystery clad tale, the theme of Decker Lake brings more insight into the views of retirees, and Senior Citizens. Why dark? We should read it in full. I am on the way to read line.

The editing errors are a pity. But the plot seems to have been properly built. I hope that the author gets the book proofread again and publishes a second edition.
Thank you for the insightful review.

I love that readers are in on what's actually going on. This is a mystery and thriller plot that I'd love to read. What's going on in Decker. Can George find out?

This book sounds very dark and mysterious--something that I'd like to read. I like the idea of a little town where things happen but no one really talks about it; it gives the reader a chance to form their own opinions before enlightening them. It is too bad about the errors, but sounds like it could easily go from good to amazing with another round of editing. Thank you for your compelling review.

This is an excellent intellectual mystery thriller that highlights crime, disappearances, paranormal mystery, an interesting POV, and the promise of a sequel. The book is free on Kindle Unlimited and has an awesome OnlineBookClub review. Congrats @emhzed on the BOTD selection.

This book is an interesting and captivating novel. I will love to know what Goerge find out about the disappearance of the people of Decker lake. The book sounds like one with scary atmosphere and a lot of suspense. Nice Review.

It sounds quite promising. I haven't read a book where the reader actually knows something that the characters don't know. Also, I really enjoyed your review! :tiphat:
"You can be more aware and more present simply by resting in the present moment, open to all that is, without trying to control it or grasp it with the mind. Truly, a marvelous way of being!"

The Darkness at Decker Lake made use of good descriptive speech. The locations were well described. The characters were personable because how they looked, why they looked and behaved in a certain way were well explained. Most of the characters in the book seem to be adjusting to old age, having the pursuit of a quiet life but with the new president of the board many changes occur. There is enough suspense which is enough to encourage one to continue reading. I love this book already. Additionally, no observance of vulgar language was experienced

Is it the darkness of not understanding anything, that makes people of Deckersburg not act on what is happening around them?

"Sometimes when I read books, I get discouraged by conversations that go on for longer than is necessary, character's with no layers, and loose ends. I'm pleased to say that this book has none of those issues!" I am glad this is the case, I fully agree that loose ends can drive away readers. Also, the part where the reviewer describes the readers as insiders in the book intrigues me. One would think this would be hard to keep the readers engaged but this seems to done strategically and I am impressed. Thanks for the review.
